Vish was telling us at easter that the lease was up on the place that they had got, So they looking for another piece a land close by to set up, But idealy he wanted another season there while he got it sorted. So not to sure Mike may email him soon as we have been busy moving so not kept in touch. I will report back if we hear anything.

East meets west has definately closed, whether or not someone else takes it over remains to be seen, it is a real shame as you did not hear many complaints and it was such a lovely setting.
Two more places have moved Phoenix bar has moved to CSM road where Captain lobo's used to be and Rabbie burns has moved to where Jubngle village used to be behind bombay bazzar.

Why have we two east meets west threads .....
Everywhere in Candolim is opening now all the usual restaurants are open again new one called the lobster pot which used to be Scarface what was that all about !!!!!!.

Just to up date the OP
East Meets West opened last week and it is still been run be Vishwanath but as it is outside dining I don't expect he will be busy at the moment due to the weather

which used to be Scarface what was that all about !!!!!!.
it was because Tony Fernandez who owns Montanas also opened scarface .... and i think scarface is to do with Tony Montana in the film!!?? but Sam told me they decided to chsnge the name to Lobster pot this season as it sounds more user friendly!!!

Have heard that most of the previous staff from EMW have now found other jobs elsewhere so it will be interesting to see how things go there this season.
I didn't enjoy EMW last season to be honest I thought it had gone a bit too 'touristy'

It was recommended by a dear friend, but we were disappointed.

Strange comment.
It is certainly not a locals place, its in the middle of the tourist area, is only open in the tourist season and only sells food and drinks at prices only a tourist can afford just like Fiesta, Kim Faa or most other places in Baga
I have not been this season so can't comment on what the quality of the food is like now Jenny is not there to oversee things, agree the service was a bit up and down last season but with her health deteriorating so fast it was hardly surprising

I would define "touristy" as having a menu with Chilli, Spaghetti, Chicken Cafreal, Prawn Chop Suey, Fillet Steak etc and on and on.
In other words trying to cater to all tastes instead of specialising in what they are really good at.
It's all in the name of the place "East meets West."
If I want Chinese or Burmese I would go to my favourite for that type of food. Likewise if I want Indian food I have a couple of favourite places and just the same for French or Italian.
You may not like Gordon Ramsay - but he always advises those restaurants in trouble to "keep the menu simple and have a few speciality dishes that you can do well."
The other thing that put me off East Meets West was the terrible band that was on when we were in.
That is exactly what I meant Max I am always dubious about places that offer a menu with foods from all corners of the globe

Just got back, and stayed opposite East Meets West and it was indeed open. It looked dead most nights but one night I think there was some entertainment on and the car park was almost full! I looked at the menu the following night and quite fancied it but Salt n Pepper a few doors up was much cheaper (probably a third cheaper for each dish) and had already had fantastic meal there so went there again instead.
I will post a trip report tomorrow!
