We have booked with GB Airways consitently over the last couple or years, having dabbled with Cyprus Airways & XL.

We have found them to be reliable, punctual, very freindly staff and good on price.

We have booked for May 2008 (£115.00 each) which is fantastic for half term week.

We hope that Easyjet can maintain the standards going forwards and more importantly for us, the Manchester to Paphos route.

There are people outside the South East who do enjoy travel and reading the announcements on the Easyjet Website, the additional Gatwick operations are their main concern.

We will have to wait & see if they honour their obligations?

I agree Stewart.

We booked with GB Airways for March and September. Excellent prices for flights on the dates and times we wanted, and of course with the advantage of a good baggage allowance, in flight services and meals and of course being able to check in on line etc.

I appreciate that Paphos flights are not cheap and serious competition was needed on this route, and many will be delighted with this news, but I am not so sure.

Could not believe this news, I have only just booked flights for my Daughter & Boyfriend for next year as a surprise. Looks like I will now have to cancel as I do not want to risk a long flight with Easyjet, as they do not have in flight entertainment, or good bagage allowances. No wonder there flights were cheap!!!!! or this a panic by me over nothing, help.

We've booked flights to Paphos in May next year. Must say I not too sure if this deal is a good thing for us or not. I guess we'll have to wait a while and be contacted by Easyjet.

Hi,

They are offering a full refund, and think thats what I will do. At least I can then check the easyjet website for flights to Cyprus when they become available, decide if I want to travel with them rather than being forced.

I was under the impression that the sale to Easyjet included 15 of the GB Airways aeroplanes according to the official announcement.

I can't see that they're going to buy the planes as part of the sale when they say "livery will be changed to Easyjet" and then not use them, moreover they're not going to rip out TV's surely ! ? So you may be panicking for no reason as the planes used IMO will more than likely be the ex GB planes and therefore have the inflight entertainment in tact.

Just a thought before you do anything hasty. I have to say as a regular flyer to Cyprus of at least 5 times a year I rarely watch the movie as I've either already seen it or the position of the TV makes it impossible to enjoy the picture. If I'd paid a decent price for the flight and it was only the entertainment that was being withdrawn it certainly wouldn't stop me taking the flight. In fact before Ajet (Helios) went into liquidation I used them an awful lot and couldn't honestly say they were better than worse than a no frills flyer, the same could be said for Monarch Scheduled which took these Ajet slots over.

We have already paid for our flights for next August and also the deposit for the villa, so hope they dont change it too much. I found it a nightmare flying to France with them, especially not having choice of seat and having to sit apart from my partner, nowhere to put books etc and orange everywhere!

Does anyone know which airports (UK) Easyjet will be flying from?

I dont think we know for sure that they will even fly to Cyprus after end of March 08

GB Airways currently fly out of Gatwick and Manchester to Paphos.

I too have booked 2 lots of flights for Paphos from Manchester AFTER the 31st March next year... From the vibes I'm getting I am expecting to be offered a refund or an alternative flight from Gatwick... Not had anything in writing yet... but Easyjet don't fly out of Manchester... and can't see them doing so in the future either... they are only interested in GB Airways for the Gatwick slots.... I'm really naffed off because I got my flights at good prices and looking on other sites now will have to pay about £100 more per flight... If this is the case... think I'll get a flight to Dalaman instead... they are still going pretty cheap :)
As much as I've always loved Cyprus over the years.... after going over last month and seeing how they are ruining the island with far far too much over building... this may be the final push for me....
Theres nicer places I can visit cheaper... it's sad how they are just ruining the island... :(

We decided not to risk what was happening and have asked for refunds. BA were happy with this although we have been told our full refund wont be given for about 4 weeks.

Well.... thank goodness I was wrong... I'm glad I didn't do anything too hasty and cancel my flight because it looks like Easyjet will be flying from Manchester after all... and I don't think my flights will be changing much either... This can only be good news for the future now I think flying from Manchester....

As we have a topic on this in the Flights forum I shall lock this one to avoid duplication across the forums and keep all the information in one place for easy access.
