I booked a weeks car hire for August 2007 but unfortunately we had to cancel the holiday. I went on to the Easy Car hire web site to change the booking which would have cost me £20, I had no problem with this but because their booking calendar doesn't go past next March 2008 I can't change the booking to May 2008 which is when we have rebooked the cancelled holiday for. I didn't understand their e mailed reply, the English was very poor, so I tried telephoning them but they were extremely unhelpful and told me that I would have to change it to next March and then change it again when they were accepting bookings for May 2008 but of course this would then cost me another £20!! I am sure I am not the first person to have come up against this problem and I wondered if anyone had any advice for me. I would certainly never use them again!!
Who are you supposed to be booking with - Alamo or Easycar?
Alamo reject/decline a booking due to non availability - That makes sense.
How can Easycar be in breach of contract if the hire has not yet taken place?
Have booked it with them - or are you trying to book a vehicle with Alamo having sourced it yourself with Easycar - that is how it reads?
I can understand Alamo rejecting in that instance. They source their own vehicles.
If you would like some help or advice please clarify.

The OP is talking about both Alamo and Easycar, I can follow the Alamo part but where exactly does Easycar enter in to this ?
I think you are saying that you have now booked with Easycar and they haven't supplied you with a vehicle, but you aren't due to get this vehicle until you arrive in 11 days, so how do you know that you won't have the people carrier

We booked a hire car via the Alamo website, but it was actually Easycar when all the paperwork came through. When we went to collect the car, we had to go to the Alamo collection point.
With regard to the second post the problem would seem to be, that, at present, bookings are only being taken until March 2008.
I am always reluctant to spend time listening to the Rites of Spring and paying for the privilege with call centres.
In this particular case I would be inclined to write (recorded delivery) and explain the problem. I would think that you might get a more positive response.
Whilst people keep saying that email is great the old fashioned pigeon post takes some beating.
I do find that someone actually reads letters, rather than a quick scan of the contents, which the tendency with emails is, totally missing what someone is trying to say.

I am Odyssey and mine was the second topic on Easy Car. I will try the suggestion to write recorded delivery. I would still be interested in hearing from someone who may have encountered the same problem.

Have just had a positive result from Easy Car although they can't take the rearranged booking for next May, if I change the booking to next March and then change it again to May, when May is available they will reimburse me one of the £20 fees for changing, which was what I wanted.
