Not much night life for the teenagers in Luxor but lots of the history is here. Maybe a few days in Hurghada after the cruise & back to Luxor for some sightseeing before you leave. Hurghada is about 4 hours drive from Luxor & you travel there in a convoy.
We stayed at the Arena Inn, which was in the perfect location - a five minute walk at the most from downtown [THomas Cook], and it wasnt the most plush hotel we had been to but other things made it special - no having to reserve beds in the morning, whatever time we went down to the fab pool there were always four beds available for us. It was b and b which is perfect, cause there are so many nice restaurants to eat in in El Gouna and the Marina area - the kids loved this. We would, and are considering going back to the same hotel next year. THey provide a lovely free airconditioned bus to the beach [hourly] and do everything in their power to make your stay special. Also rooms have PLENTY of storage - wall cupboards, worktop and some have a sink in the rooms too. Also a bus runs from there on party night in the Marina on a Friday, which is only about ten minutes away I reckon, so as I say, there are plenty of options. El GOuna itself is quite unique, set within blue lagoons and lots of character considering it is a man made resort.
Hope this helps.
