Hello all
We're looking to go on a short break to Cairo or Giza. I have read through various threads on visas, etc. What I am trying to find though is whether people would recommend booking a pyramid tour before going, or seeing what's available when we get there? Travel Republic can get two of us flights and hotel (4 nights in March next year) for £711 which seems really good, but I want to make sure I get a decent tour of at least one of the pyramid fields.
And then what else would people recommend to do in Cairo or Giza?
Any help would be appreciated

You willl be able to book an excursion / guide to the Pyramids and Sphinx very easily locally in Cairo / your hotel, you will find that the cost will be much less than booking it here or with a travel company.
In Cairo apart from spending time at the Pyramids & Sphinx you should (must) visit the superb Cairo Museum and also take a look around the large Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, the bazaar is an experiance that shouldn't be missed but do be aware it is not for the faint hearted.
Try and go to the Pyramids early in the day to avoid the heat, you are able to walk around freely at the Pyramids and do go in to the Solar Boat Museum which is located there, it is overlooked by so many tourists.
Once you have experienced the Pyramids you can walk down the hill and go to the Sphinx on the same excursion.
