We signed on the dotted line for a duplex apartment in El Gouna 18 months ago - taking a huge gamble on the transportation available to Hurghada (20 mins away by road). The resort is fantastic, but when we "signed up", there was one charter flight a week from Gatwick, plus the "expensive option" with BA or Egyptair into Cairo and a five hour drive at the other end (or a number of connections over various European capitals with the same schlep from Cairo at the end of it.) We crossed our fingers and hoped that the development of Hurghada and the saturation of Sharm, might just make the flight market change a bit
Yesterday I finally got the news that we have been hoping for for months - BA/GB airways have announced 2 direct flights to Hurghada a week from Gatwick from this winter - yipee - no more Cairo transfers!!!!
To cap it all, Excel (XL) have also upped their services with new flights into Hurghada from Bristol, Glasgow and Birmingham (have already been operating from LGW and MAN for a little while) and TUI/Britannia are also commencing services.
Oh Happy Bunny Roll on 22nd October. Thank you VERY much BA !!!!!!!!
