Hello everybody
We came back from Calangute, Goa on Monday. In the same way as last time in March, I would like to use the pictures as my trip report. (question of being able to express myself in language that is not my native language) Photos
The mountains are Western Ghats and the place we stayed is Wildernest Resort. When you look at the photos no words are needed.
The place with elephants is Shanti Nature Resort
( http://www.indiatravelite.com/goa/shantinatureresortgoa.htm )
Hotel we stayed was Silla Beach Resort - look at the pictures of towels on the bed
In the end of the November we found ourselves in the middle of the construction work, some of the shacks up, some just started, some in the middle of the construction. Tandoori owens were cold and new employees didn't know exactly what they supposed to do. Still, Calangute was more busy than ever, regardless the fact that majority of the tourists had not arrived yet. Sellers were desperate and the prices had a potential to go down all the way. Ingos market was closed (possibly question of bureaucracy) and Anjuna, by the words of the seller, many people- no buyers. But nevertheless - look at the faces on pictures and you understand, that we were in 7'th heaven and overemotional.
Just in case we decided that next trip will be later in season and we look forward to January 2009.
There has been some confusion with taxi driver mr.Sergio Fernandez.
I used his services for two weeks and I can assure you that he is reliable, punctual and nice person to deal with. We found his prices always reasonable and services in high level. He was able to change routine trips from point "a" to point "b" a presentation of local culture and lessons about the nature. I would definitely recommend him to my best friend.
Sergio, if you read this thread, I wish you all the best and I hope your little son turns up to be as good man as you are.
Wishing to all of you the same peace and happiness, we had for two weeks,
Argo
Absolute stunning pics you have taken, noticed a lot of faces from over the years - looks like a great trip you had.
I can assure you- we had a great trip!
What a fantastic set of photos. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Was hoping they had gone after last year!
Hi elephant, pleased you had a great holiday and just to tell you that we,ve used Sergio our twice in Goa [just returned on Dec 4th] and think he's great, we've a friend going tomorrow and as usual Sergio will be there.
ps - we've also decided to go in Jan 09 to make sure everything is up and running. Cheers
They demonstrate WHY Goa should not be ruined by developers and serve as a reminder to us all WHY we all love Goa.
I cannot praise you enough for sharing these with us. Thank you so much.

Argo, Great pictures!!!
It was done in Wildernest Nature Resort - the mountain pictures ( http://www.wildernest-goa.com/ ) and it was included in price.

Thanks for sharing your photos , my favorites are the shots of the local people especially the children
Greetings from freezing cold Germany to Estonia , xlassi
It's brilliant, I wanted something like that done myself - although I didn't see anyone doing them as good as that in the candolim area
I must say that it is possibly the same temperature in Germany and in Estonia but the worst thing (worse in Estonia) is the darkness. In Goa it was dark and then it was light - we have evenly grey or dark without light. I makes you to want back NOW.

Those photo's are outstanding! I've been a little down about goa of late. Were going in March and those photo's have got me all excited again!
I would suggest taht you make the reservations to wildernest early. they have only (about) 5 "valley view" and 5 "jungle view" cottages. they are booked long ahead.
Argo
Thanks for the tip. I'll find out numbers and give them an email. Its about £30 a night is it not?
i do not know the exchange rates for £ and rupee but it cost us 14 000 rupees per two nights ie. 7 000.-rupees per night (all meals and trips included)
Argo
£87 for one night wow thats quite a lot. I'll have to have a look into it though.
