We are going to Belek ( Sun Zenep) next Sunday. Reading various posts the advice seems to be take Euros not Lira.
Surely we will need some Lira? Can anyone advise?
Thank you Margaret
have never taken lira, always euros and american dollars they seem to love the latter,at least they do in and around beldibi and kemer, dont know about belek tho, wouldn't have thought there's any difference tho,i'm sure someone will tell you soon, that has stayed in this resort, have a great time on your hols,
I came back from Side not long ago which is not far from Belek and everything is priced in Euros. We only took lira though but its not a problem to take lira just times the euro price by 2 to get your turkish price. You may get given some of your change in euro coins though. It depends which currency you would preferto work in!
I don't mind Lira or Euros but I don't think we could cope with dollars as well. I would need to take a calculator if I had three currencies. I think we will stick to Euros.
Thanks to both of you for your replies

Hi been to belek four times now and although they deal a lot in euros , i have always taken english tenners and have had no troubles ,as long as they are not torn or written on , i always take a few quids worth of ytl just for the likes of tips and so on for the first few days , the sun zeynep always has a good rate of exchange, the main reason i tke tenners is at the markets you can haggle more for say 3/4 items for a tenner , if you give twenties or euros unless it is the correct money you will be given your change in ytl and you end up with alot of different currencies, at the end of the day the traders will refuse nothing
Margaret.
Hi Neknit.I live just up the road from Belek and yes, the Traders will take any currency including Rubles. However the Exchange rate from the Traders beggers belief. If it was me, I would take Turkish Lira and get it from a UK. Post Office before I came.Ask for the price in Turkish Lira and make sure that you know how to convert that from Euro's.The pickings are so good for the traders that I have been tempted to start work again. ( well, not really )
The weather looks awful there on the forecasts at the moment. Mind you, at this time of the year I suppose its all you can expect.
Looking forward to visiting the area after visiting othere tourists spots in Turkey.
