Hi

We went to Cavtat near Dubrovnik a couple of years ago and you couldn't pay in the shops with the Euro it was all the local currency. I don't know whether or not you would be able to pay for excursions in Euro. I suppose you would be able to take them to an exchange place over there and convert them to local currency.
Maybe someone else could be of more help. There is a forum on http://www.visit-croatia.co.uk.

You'll have to change them to Kunas...

But you would need to keep some euros aside if you are going on a trip to Venice...

......although Makarska may be too far south to do that.
