chilly
Thompsons allow no leeway at all, one year we were carryng a bag of medications and they made us put it into the hold, which put our limit over, then they charged us excess.
On Thomsonfly flights, hand luggage must be able to fit in the overhead lockers. The maximum size is therefore 45cm x 35cm x 20cm and the maximum weight is 5kg. Only one piece of hand luggage per person is allowed. This includes handbags, camera/camcorder cases and laptop computers. There are restrictions on what you may carry in your hand luggage - please read carefully the information enclosed with your tickets.
Lez does it really include handbags??? thats mad what do you mean weightwise or they wont let me take a handbag AND laptop??? surely not!! never known this on a flight before!! ridiculous
chilly .......... got the giggles now!
I thought Mike was your husband.
Just returned, many on my flight were charged excess baggage !. And a curious thing, some in my party had their booze in their hand luggage confiscated at check-in which was then returned to them in carrier bags on board the aircraft, weird or what ?
The checkin staff tried to get £90 from them our friends refused but offered to pay £65 and got away with that.
Came back with Monarch 10 days ago and was asked by Monarch staff before we got to the actual check in if we were carrying any drink in our hand luggage and were told if we had it would be taken off us at the hand baggage xray check, we had'nt so dont know if they are offering to take it through the check for you and hand it back airside, being helpfull like that does'nt sound like Monarch staff!! Alan
Your all going to kick yourselves, On page 82 of this weeks Chat magazine sombody won £200 for the Tip Of The Day.which was purchase a set of fishermans scales for weighing your luggage to avoid paying excess baggage charges. Now where have we heard that before.
had my booze confiscated from my hand luggage by airport security (Daobolim)at check-in last week which was handed back to me on board the aircraft prior to take-off (weird ! )
PS. he said it was only UK flights enforcing this, all the others were ok...
You said the following:

We've just come back from Cancun with Thomsonfly and this is what it said in our tickets:
'In addition to your baggage allowance shown on your tickets (20kg per person in our case), we also allocate you an additional 5kg for hand baggage.
From your TOTAL baggage allowance you may take one item up to 10kg on board as hand baggage. This must be maximum dimensions of 55x40x20cm and you should be able to lift this yourself into the overhead storage compartments'.
They were very strict about only having one piece of cabin luggage.
A ladies handbag counts as one piece.

I've let this run for a while now but am now going to lock. For luggage allowances of various airlines have a look at the flights forum
