Yes i do think that the english have been pounded :banghead: We have gone all inclusive this year as we can not afford to take the kids when we are doing self catering. That is well out of my price range now :cry . next year if it all gets any worse we will have to camp in the back garden for a holiday!! but as they say if you have got good weather there is know where better than the back garden :lol:

Checking Online and Travelex do give a slightly better rate - an extra 10 Euro's on what we want to exchange.

To be honest, next years holiday, we're looking at going to the US. For the same price as a half-board in Menorca over the summer holidays we can go to Orlando in June WITH theme park tickets.

Travelling to Menorca in August and wondering whether or not to bring travellers cheques or just use the cashpoints, are there plently of places in cal'n'forcat to exchange cheques or would anyone thats already been advise on cashpoints??????????

M&S are having a promotion at the moment. Change over more than £250 worth of currency and get a £10 off a £20 spend on mens or womens cloths. Valid until early July.

Assuming you're buying holiday cloths from M&S the £10 off makes M&S probably the best exchange rate at the moment.

At Ramsdens it cost me £975.60 for 1200 euros, at m&s it would cost £987.90 so its not really a saving.

BUT if you had bought the M&S Euros in £250 transactions, you'd have got £30 off your shopping. Assumng you're buying your cloths from M&S £30 off your shopping is still better than £10 saved on the exchange rate (plus for a bit more you could've saved £40) . ;)

BTW who are Ramsdens?

Hi All. Off to CNB in August, have always used travellers cheques in the past but am considering using my debit card to save on commission. Anyone been to Cala'n Bosch that can tell me are there plenty of cash machines (reliable ones) and are Visa debit cards widely accepted in the restaurants? Many thanks for any replies.

Hi There are ATMs in Cala'n Bosch down by the Marina, never had any trouble using Visa debit in restaurants, but have been asked for my passport as proof of identy. Have a great holiday :)

Thanks for the info Vick. Glad you had a good holiday. I've opened a Nationwide account on the recommendation of HT members, so at least I should get a few more euros for my £.

Today's rate with Visa is 1 GBP = 1.28 EUR / 1 EUR = 0.78 GBP

Euro to British Pounds

1 = 0.78 50 = 39.05
5 = 3.91 75 = 58.58
10 = 7.81 100 = 78.10
20 = 15.62 150 = 117.15
25 = 19.53 200 = 156.20
30 = 23.43 250 = 195.25
40 = 31.24 300 = 234.30

This is the best I have seen for a few months now

Is it any better elswhere?
