You won't be charged commission, but the charges will depend on which bank you card is with.

If it is a Nationwide card then there are no fees and you will get the full Interbank rate.

Most banks charge at least £1.50 per transaction and the rate you get is around 2.75% less than the Interbank rate. You can usually check online.

HERE are details of some bank's charges.

Thanks Luci, thanks for the link - seems like there is no getting away from charges - we are with Nat West and they are one of the higher chargers - never mind!!

We're off to Menorca for the first time in a few weeks :)

Does anyone know if there are cash machines in Cala n Blanes and/or Cala n Forcat...?

We normally use our Nationwide account as no charges for withdrawals but this has now changed if I remember correctly
Anyone have a view on this or know of an account that you can use abroad without any charges?

The nationwide now charges you 2% on sum + a £1 per transaction, but now gives a flexaccount member a very good FREE travel insurance policy which you need to phone up and ask to arrange.
So i will most probably be better off with this system rather than the old due since my yearly travel insurance was costing wife and I £60. I now intend buying my currency from the cheapest option which i find is thomas cook branch (since i do not want to purchase online and get it delivered) and pocket the free insurance. thanks nationwide

There are conditions attached to this apparently
Just read the info on the link

You need to deposit £750 min each month
So may just go back to the old fashioned way of travelers cheques or cash lol
