Yet another story of a child having one of these henna tattoo's that then go manky...

I have never let my girls have anything like this done anyway but think that 3 years old is abit young to have a "temporary" tattoo...

If the link is not allowed please remove it Mods!! :whoops

His mother should be locked up and the key thrown away ....don't come whinging after the event, the kid should have been told NO !
Sorry, but who in their right mind would let a kid of 3 years old have this done.?
Children's skin is so sensitive and fragile.

I think the problem is these tattoo's are aimed at children and parent's will continue to let the children have them done unaware of the danger. I've seen these tattoo's done many times abroad but never knew the dangers of them until it was high-lighted on HT. Luckily my kid's were never interested in them anyway. Whilst we were away in Cala D'or this year there was a stall doing these tattoo's and yep every day you went past there was a child having one done. Why are these street stalls allowed to operate?

These"tatoos" are very popular with adults and children here in Goa. Last year my friend had a dolphin on her arm and within hours it was itchy and swollen - by the afternoon it was red and very painful. She went to a local private hospital and the first comment she got was "oh - not another one".
The treatment lasted about a week - she had to have the dressings changed daily - had to keep out of the sun (which was why she was in Goa in the first place) and it was really painful and still has a scar to remind her of her holiday in Goa.

"oh - not another one".

This is why I can't understand why they are allowed to operate.

In Goa it is the beach sellers that do them and as long as they pay their bribes to the beach police they can do whatever they like - there is no control by any one.
I suppose for every "bad" one there are bound to be other people who say - I have had lots and they are ok - but you don't want to be the one like my friend.

One thing that is not often realised is that you can become sensitised to the chemical that causes the original reaction, so that it may well re-occur many times and many years later.
Once sensitised to these chemicals, if they are also present in ordinary pens or hair care products etc, it will cause a reaction if it comes into contact with the skin and will require treatment indefinitely.
