Well done WiganFrank, I`m sure it will taste even better after the wait. If it`s a red be sure to let it have a good breathe before you drink it as it will taste even better. I managed to get a Campo Alto from Majorca a bit earlier this year(compliments of my Dad) I did notice that it didn`t taste as nice as when we were there, I`m sure it`s something to do with the warmth of it.

I`ve taken up wine making just bottled some Chardonay yesterday from a wine making kit. A friend of our makes it all the time, his tastes fab, I hope mine does. I might try to do a merlot next. Who knows if I get good I might do a Rioja.

Hi WiganFrank I've not tried that one before but will try and get a bottle whilst i'm there. I did find this writeup however by googling and sounds very good.

Hi Christine I have had some Campo Alto whilst in mallorca and enjoyed it. If it doesnt taste the same when you are home try decanting it an hour before drinking. If you hav'nt got a decanter a jug will do...it will help soften the wine up nicely!

Mind you...most wines taste better on a nice terrace in a warm climate watching the world go by dont they!! :D

Thanks for that Taggy. I'm no wine buff but I was told it was good so I figured it's worth a pop. I only found it in Comerciales Mediteranneo but they did have other wines from Montecillo.

Boutique Del Vino near the Hotel Regente also had some other Montecillos in the back with the expensive stuff.

I am a lover of red wine, especially since I found out that it contains anti-oxidants which thin your blood! Two glasses a day is recommended, so two bottles a day is even better  Seriously (hic) I often look for Spanish wines (as long as it is on offer :) ). Anything but French wine. This is a mutant of real wine. In the 19th century, there was a plague which destroyed all the French vines. All French wine is a poor clone of South American and other European vines, including Spanish. Now, you may think that is sad, not as sad as this. With all the beautiful Spanish wines available in Benidorm, when Julie and I visit, (already twice this year, and third time coming up next month), we have a tradition. The first thing we do when we get there is to find a wineshop and buy.....a few 1 litre cartons of Don Simon (at less than 1E a carton). :rofl

Had a really nice bottle at La Aitena restaurant last week...its called Pesquerra and is a red wine fron the Ribiero del Duerro region of Spain. Its not cheap 33 euros for a 2003 vintage but was so lovely and soft, and was perfect with our lamb.
