Hello Mark, is the one with your dog and friend standing on the spot were the corsair Dragut Rais was mortally wounded by a splinter of rock from a cannon ball fired from Fort St Elmo during the Great Siege of 1565 ?
Or is it a bunker on the second green of the new golf coarse ?

Hi :D

I'm new here and about to go on our first "holiday" for nearly 15 years. We've chosen a villan on Gozo near Qala mid June and I'm SO excited

Anyway, I'm looking for recommendations for places to eat and good food markets (for supplies for our poolside BBQ!!). We'll have a car so distance shouldn't be an object! All suggestions welcome!

Hi, and welcome - I hope thats a villa and not a villan :D

Qala - best restaurant is D-Bar - not sure about shops in Qala, but Arkadia or Miracle Foods in Victoria are good for food (Miracle for frozen foods)

outside of Qala, best restaurants - Mgarr - Sammys, Mgarr-Ix Xini - Noel and Sandras, Marsalforn - Pulena's, Victoria - It Munn

I would suggest starting a thread of your own, or you might not get many answers

Hello again Mark, is the one with your dog and a friend on top of Mount Etna in Sicily after it had blown up?
Or is it the new football pitch at the National Stadium near Ta'Qali?
Or maybe it is Bajjada??

Hi Dave

have you been on the Gozitan fruit wine again ?? :D

Hello once again Mark, if its not Bajjada is it Bardan or perhaps Ic-Cent, if it is not any of these it has to be Ras il-Wardija if not I give up.

Its at Ramla, on the Eastern side, called Blata L-Bajda - maybe thats what you meant by Bajjada, but there is a place by that name near Xlendi, and thats what I thought you meant at first, now I'm not sure - the spelling seems to vary from map to map !

Hello Mark, thats what I was banking on that it would be some wear near your home that why I picked those three names from the map and you go and visit some place on the east coast and fooled me, well perhaps the next one may be a bit easer so we have a chance of getting it.

Dave
