Thanks for that, Brian. Do you know if there are any decent beaches nearer the hotel? I have read other reviews which indicate the beach area near the hotel is quite rocky.

hi bob

the rising star apartments are at the end of the sunrise beach the area immediately below the apartments is a bit rocky but you only have to walk 20 meteres and there is a perfect beach that is as good as any in cyprus. the walk is about 20/30 mins to fig tree bay you can walk mostly on the beach until you go past the iliada hotel and then it's over a gravel path and then on to a paved walkway that leads to fig tree bay . in my opinion the sunrise beach is at least as good as fig tree bay if not better.there's also plenty of water sports on both beaches. hth

Bob , stayed in rising star apartments in mid May . Beach at end of pool is small and rocky but you are literally 1 minutes walk to main beach . Fig Tree is at end of main beach , about 15 - 20 mins walk .

Enjoy your stay - say hello to chris in tropical dreams (on road you walk up to main strip from rising star)

To be honest I wouldn't bother going to Fig Tree Bay if you are at the Rising Star.As it's been said there is a perfectly good stretch of beach on your doorstep, you might have to look around a bit as there is some areas which have rocks as you enter the sea but there are plenty places which have no rocks at all.FT Bay is nice but gets extremely busy, especially at weekends plus I found that because it is sheltered it gets unbearably hot, whereas along Flamingo Beach there is "usually" a breeze which picks up as the day goes on.

Hi there, I have a (slightly) related question. In 2003 whilst staying in Ayia Napa we got a taxi and asked to be taken to Fig Tree Bay Protaras. We were dropped off at a beach which while I had no problems with it at the time didn't seem to be quite what I expected (it was very small). I have no complaints, we had a nice day where we were dropped off and everything, I just question whether we were actually taken to Fig Tree Bay? Basically the only thing I can remember of it was a bar/restaurant very close to the beach called Zefka's and a La Pas Pub within walking distance. I think there may also have been an Aquasol Hotel/Apartments in the vicinty. Can anyone confirm our exact whereabouts??

Not too sure where you were dropped off but it wasn't Fig Tree Bay!.....If it was you would have seen a large hotel just set back from the beach called the Capo Bay.Other than that I can't help.Sorry!

Hi, I'm new here! Going to Protaras at the beginning of August, staying at the Alva apartments and I can't wait...however I'm a bit worried as everyone keeps saying that its best to avoid Fig Tree Bay in August as it gets way too crowded. Fig Tree Bay is one of the main reasons I booked this holiday, it looks so beautiful, and I like to spend every day at the beach rather than the pool, but now I'm worried its going to be too busy and uncomfortable. I've been to Nissi Bay in August before and loved it - I liked the fact that it was busy, but never found it so crowded that I could hardly move! What do you guys think?

Of course, this is only my opinion, but if you can cope with Nissi then Fig Tree will be fine.

That said, they are both too busy for me at the height of Summer
