Had a look at portland brochure and it seems the new long haul planes are only going to Caribbean unless I've read it wrong

From what I have been able to make out they start rolling the newly refitted planes out from February. So possibly by next season they will be ready for Goa.Hope this is not off topic Fiona

We booked with First Choice in April at a cost of £1139 this includes the £34 each to sit together, I looked on their website a few days ago and the same holiday was £709 plus £34 each to sit together that's £362 less! I know I shouldn't have looked, because now I feel really miffed. If tour operators set their prices lower in the first place I'm sure more people would book earlier, then they wouldn't have to sell the holidays off at a loss just to fill the plane. As its been pointed out to me it's not always the early bird that catches the worm, rant over feel better now.

I've been looking at the First Choice prices for ages. They differ daily, sometimes by as much as £600 for two people. I think if sales are slow they put the prices down and when they pick up they increase them dramatically. :) I think you just have to catch them on a 'cheap' day.

I tried to book a package with First Choice many times but it seems they discriminate against single travellers!!!!!!! The website always there's no availability on dates I want if I put in 1 person travelling but if I put in 2 persons going Lo and Behold - Any dates I want

dont know how true this is but i heard the more hits there are on a certain date/resort/hotel, the prices go up accordingly, i know ours went up by about £50 within 6 days, but i am glad i booked CSM cause its full now for the dates we are going!!

Hi Papa

Sorry if I have misunderstood your post, but we are going to South Goa in March for the third time and we have always gone with Thomson's.
I did look at First Choices prices for next year and they were quite a bit dearer, also I think its only £20 with Thomsons for pre-booked seats.

Lezlie, would love to go then but run a pub so xmas is a manic time and no chance of getting away til Feb. Going scheduled this year and will find my own accommodation again. Had enough of charters and single supplements :)

I booked with Eclipse Direct this year (part of First Choice) and the price
was £943 each including extra leg room for both us for for 3 weeks over New Year at the Highland (I though it was not too bad as we normally go with Manos to the Magnum for around £880.00 each and the flight timings are better). A few days later I went back to check something and the price had rocketed - even for 2 weeks - but I have noticed this for all the ops when booking on line. Just have to shop around I guess until you get the right price. Anyway there is another less know tour op who I called after we booked just to check their prices and they told me "if you get it cheaper than our quote come back and we will better it" Not going to tell who though you'll all be booking with them!!!!
