Just went walk abouts to find best rate on high street it turns out to be first choice...
1.41 euro
brought £500
was told by the lady( who was the manager) that i had a (bbg) buy back garuntee on the money if i wanted to exchange it back, if i had any left over on return...
thats good i said...
came home looked at me receipt she'd only gone and charged me £3.50 for the pleasure, then to add insult to injury on the receipt it states its optional...wheres the option??? wasnt even given the choice...
£3.50 thats 5 euros or so...I want me money back....
i most cases first choice advertise the bbg on a poster which says its included in the transaction, if you are not happy call the shop and tell them and they should refund you the bbg fee as i would in our first choice shop, it might sound alot £3.50 but its well worth it if you are likely to return any money, but you need to keep ypur receipt and return any money back within 8 weeks of the purchase
No need to trawl the high street for the best deal on travel money, just try

When I worked for them the Bureau staff would earn 50p on each BBG, supplementing their minimum wage job. 10.5k a year full time isnt easy to live on when you have a family, so staff will sell these things regardless.
You could have just kept any leftovers for your next holiday.
Its great when you find euros you'd forgot about in your flight bag the next year comes in handy.
I suppose if its all for yourself then it might be a lot, but if you're a family then maybe not?

He was charged for the BBG which he thought he was getting for free.
I know what he said!
Maybe the First choice foreign exchange person took his "thats good" comment the wrong way and decided to translate this into " I would like buy back"!
My point was why would you bother taking it up whether free or not for such a small amount!
He checked the receipt a bit late unfortunatley.
so if you bought the euro at 1.40 thats what they would buy it back at instead of 1.69 so no matter how little you bring back you always save, but he has the right to a refund on the bbg if he dont want it and he has to call the shop and take the reciept back in, sooner the better
i also dont agree that a bbg would be added on if you only bought £20 worth of money it wouldnt in my shop
I did nt mean to cause such a heated debate..I was just trying to point out that a woman ie manager at first choice had added on an extra £3.50 onto my travel money for a service I did not require or ask for furthermore I was not asked or advised of this service it was just stated as being in with my transaction..
And as I was not aware that I had paid for this I comment that it was good...however it is and was my intention to spend all they holidaymoney whilst away...
I was trying to highlight this to enable others buying money with first choice to quote that they do not require this bbg if they do not wish to pay for it as you will not be asked before hand...
futher to my experience I contacted the branch the very next money and requested a refund which they where happy to do but did explain that if I were to have any let over i would be disapointed with the exchange rate for buy back if I did not have this cover...
TC state that the buy back is only valid if it is within 8 weeks so it wouldnt have been valid in my case anyway as I only purchased the money as it was a good rate I am not due travel until the end of June anyway...
Oh btw I am female.!!!!!
kind regards mellow
