Hi Neil

Great choice of destination! :D

I can help with the last part of your post. Yes, it will be very hot, over 40c during the day most probably, but the humidity is low so it's not unbearable. Just take the usual precautions for that climate (water, sun cream, hats etc), stay close to the sea/pool/shade and you'll be fine

I hope you have a lovely holiday! We'll be flying out to Sharm on the 30th (to the Conrad), if you fancy meeting up with us in Naama Bay one evening, PM me (we met a couple of members for a meal at the Hard Rock Cafe when we went in 2005, they were staying at the CSR, we were at the Conrad).

It's the main tourist area in Sharm and I believe there's regular transport from the CSR just as there is from the Conrad

Thanks Pippy,
I am now searching for family travel insurance, can you recommend any good companies to use for 2 adults and 2 children.
We fly out on thurs the 26th of July for 2 weeks, my dad has just come in and he too is now booked to come along  . I think he got a bit jealous and went and booked yesterday, theres now 4 adults and 2 children. Are we better to get a taxi from the airport?

We use INSURE AND GO but I guess you only know how good an insurance company is if you need to make a claim, which we never have.

We used the Eclipse (First Choice) coach transfer in 2005 with no problems so I personally wouldn't go to the extra expense of hiring a taxi

One factor I ought to take into account is that neither the flight, airport or coach were particularly busy due to many people cancelling. Perhaps a taxi transfer would be preferable at busy times...........I'll reserve judgement until I'm waiting for my coach on the night of the 30th July!

Thanks troops
I was thinking of just jumping in a taxi because i will probably have had enough of amusing the kids by this time
Thanks for the insurance tip Pippy, the last two times we have been away one of the family has had chickenpox! unbelieveable!! as we got married and both the kids had them all over. Insure and go does seem to be a good provider though.
A friend has just given me a discount code for the post office and it is coming in at £42 but insure and go is still cheaper :?

I suppose its a personal choice but its a very short trip on the coach and its an opportunity to ask questions to the rep on the way, also last time we filled the forms in on the coach to speed booking in once we got there we had booked interconnecting rooms which i realised we hadnt got according to the paperwork i advised the rep on the coach and by the time we got off the coach the rooms were sorted I think if I had got there in a taxi and discovered this I might have been in more of a panic with all the reps on the coaches and us on our own at the hotel hope you have a fab time we have booked our 2nd trip to egypt aug 2008. :P
p.s regarding insurance i always go on moneysupermarket we've just been to disneyland paris 5 people 5 days £9 total and that wasnt the cheapest.

Hi Neil

Beware of 'just jumping into a taxi' at Sharm, its nothing like just jumping into a cab here. Try and pre-book one with your hotel before you leave most hotels will send one out for you if you give them the flight details.

The taxi drivers kind of mob you on arrival and they also take advantage pricewise. You will pay a lot more outward than on return. You need to be up for a barter which you may not fancy after 5 hours and with young kids with you.

Although it's a personal choice, for example you may not be bothered on cost, but I'm inclined to agree with Louise, as it's a short transfer anyway.

Have a great holiday. You'll love it.

Hi Neil

We always get an annual family insurance with MRL - also covers students at Uni up til they are aged 23.

i would stick with the coach ,its only 15 minutes literally and we were out of the terminal and on our way in about the same time ,i found the whole csr/first choice set up there very efficient and thats putting it mildly top class service

Thanks guys
We got some good prices for insurance, my dad is just back from Egypt(Coral Sea) and he has given me a taxi flier to book one if we decide to hire one. Mido, from the Coral Sea and it is £10 is this a good price? he said its a set price with no haggling.
Which is the better way to take my spending money? in cash and change in resort, taking egyptian pounds or travellers cheques. We are all inc so we wont be taking silly money.

Hi :wave

Lots of people take enough Egyptian currency to last you for the first 2 or 3 days, and then get cash out from the ATMs (I'm sure there are plenty of them in Sharm!) - unless things have changed a lot lately you'll get a better exchange rate in Egypt than over here. :)

Lots of Qs & As about money, what to take & where to change it etc on this link: http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=34391
