Hi Katy, similar views to us and similar age group, an hour ago, booked a couple of weeks in September in Sidari for the wife,9yr old g/child and I, we stayed in Kassiopi a few years ago, loved it, lovely harbour.

There is a lot to see in Corfu, Paleokastritsa has amazing views. Along the road from Kassiopi are the resorts of Roda and Acharavi you could visit. When we were last there, we toured around on a scooter, great fun.

I would second Kassiopi. A really pretty harbour village with plenty of local tavernas. No beach as such just a couple of rocky coves but boat trips run from the harbour regularly to other beaches and to Corfu town.

If you don't want British pubs, then don't go to Sidari. - One of the most 'UnGreek' places I've ever been to, a truly awful place.
From what you've said, Roda could be a good choice for you.

Sidari is very commercialised now, i love it, going back in August for two weeks, but most pubs and restaurants do british food along with traditional greek food as well and there are some nice greek resturants you just have to look around, its nice in september though, not too rowdy and not quiet either, we went last year begininng of september for two weeks, loved it, Roda is more for couples etc, walk along the beach to restaurants, although quite a small resort, but still very nice

Hi Katie

Sidari is probably not a good choice as is very much British style sort of pubs etc now.

I liked Kassiopi which still retains its local character.

Take a look at this threads for info

There is a local bus service to other areas of the island and also various excursions, a good trip is Corfu town by boat.

I have not been but I also believe that both the villages of Paleokastritsa and Arillas are very nice and could be what you are looking for.

Arrilas could deliver what you like. A couple of bars, and at least several restaurants, all with a local feel, and the beach is fine (how busy perhaps depends on when you're going). You can pick a trip locally to a number of places, including Corfu Town (worth doing on an evening trip if the temperatures are high).

i would recommend Kassiopi every time.
We have just got back (review comming) and its our third time there and everybit as good as the first.
Where we stayed there was a couple in their 70's who had been going to Kass for 20years. If thats not a recommendation I dont know what is.
Up to you but I know where we would go. :cheers

We are considering Corfu this summer too and looked at Kassiopi, we have 2 young children aged 5 and 2 and we want to stay at a more traditional Greek resort with local tavernas and nice walks. Is Kassiopi like this? If so does anyone have any sc apartment recommendations with a pool, close to the resort?

Thanks
Kedi
