Bonjour!
Me and my girlfriend are going to Ovacik on the 1st of september and staying at the Leda hotel, now, neither of us have been to turkey before so there's a few questions Id like to ask and hopefully get some responses?
Firstly, How quiet is Ovacik? Ive heard different stories so dont know what to expect, Is there restaraunts and bars there or is it a long walk to get something to eat?
How is the weather in September? Cool? Hot?
finally(for now anyway), Creepy crawlies? My girlfriend has a mega phobia of frogs and neither of us are keen on big insects, are there a lot about? As we're staying in the mountains i heard, was wondering about them?
Thanks for any information, i'd much appreciate it!
I'll leave answering your queries to the experts here but I can point you towards your hotel review
Not been to Ovacik but just love Olu Deniz and Hiaronu which are nearby. I think Ovacik is very quite but the good news is that the Dolmas will take you to Olu Deniz and Hisaronu. Taxis are also cheap. You will have a great time, get the bus out and come back by taxi.
Ok just to start with, 1st of sept expect it to be hot, but cool enough at night to sleep, also being situated where you will be there is a nice breeze that blows throughout the day, in my opinion better than being down in Olu Deniz, can get stifling down there.
Loads of restaurants / bars around Ovacik on the main road, and if you fancy just going into another hotel / bar just for a meal and or a drink then you are made welcome. but if you really want night life then it's got to be Hisaronu, a short domus ride or a good walk, dolmus's are the local transport system, easy to use and cheap, they run till about 01.00 and about every 5 minutes, however and remember this, if you are in Hisaronu and want to get back to your hotel get on one that has a sign in the window for Fethiye, because they run a route from Fethiye to Olu Deniz via Hisaronu, and then Olu Deniz to Fethiye via Hisaronu so to newbies it can get a little confusing.
Finally--- the creepies, yes, but not to many and rarely seen, normally small lizards, and then there are the flying insects, would recommend sparaing your room at night before you go out with raid or something similar.
Hope this has helped in some small way, B.T.W. I will be there on the 15th, At the Gunes Hotel, Have a great time.....

Ive been told a few bad stories about Turkey and hassling you, to be honest however i dont usually believe anything until ive been myself and go with with an open mind.
don't worry to much you are in a nice area and it does have a nice breeze so its comfortable
as far a hassling goes they all try to ply there trade and get you to eat at there restaurant but i have never experienced any contact hassle if this does happen conplain to the jandarma they will take action as this is not allowed
my advice is to go and enjoy turkey it has plenty to offer and will proberly not be your last vist
