Sea Club is good in Calan Forcat right on the sea front, you can go on walks which we did everyday, lots of restaurants in the main town the walk is about 10 minutes.

This resort is S/C and only 2 apartments high but if you go to bed early i would suggest going on the top apartment as you can here every step and chair scrap.

I'm going to Santo Thomas on 2nd May so i will let you know what that area is like..... :cheers

Hi and welcome

Menorca is a beautiful island with something for everyone. It's difficult recommending a specific resort as we all have different likes and dislikes. Perhaps you could tell us a bit more about what you like in a holiday as it may make it easier to think of an area you may like. Non of the resorts in Menorca are particularly busy when compared to say some on Majorca but some are certainly more geared up to catering for British tourists than others. Do you want easy access to a beach? If you do then I wouldn't suggest Cala'n Forcat - sorry I know some love it but I really don't think this resort is a true reflection of Menorca. I was shocked when I visited for the day last year at how commercialised it had become ( last went 20 years ago when it was a quiet little place). I personally think a 'best of both worlds' resort expecially for a first visit to Menorca is Cala'n Bosch, by that I mean not too busy but just enough going on to not be bored, plenty of restaurants, nice beach and lovely marina to stroll around in the evening. Wherever you go I would recommend hiring a car to see more of the island and it's resorts. We did this last year and it really opened our eyes to just how lovely the island is. We are booked to go to Cala Galdana on the basis of our visit in the car last year as it is truly stunning. Perhaps if you let us know other place that you've been and liked we can come up with a few suggestions.

Thank you both for your replies. I like the idea of low-rise apartments. Also a 10 min walk into town is what we like. I don't really want a too British area and also I know Menorca is very child-friendly but I don't really want an accomodation with children's club as I have been there etc. We are not too fussed about beaches but we like nice walks. A Marina is a plus.

Hi again. You will find that most accomodations, especially apartments are low rise in Menorca due to the building restrictions that were put into place by the government years ago, although most resorts tend to have at least one or two big hotels. If you don't want somewhere 'British' then I would advise to avoid the Los Delfines area, ie. Cala'n Forcat and Blanes. Take a look at Cala'n Bosch, Cala Galdana, Santo Thomas and maybe Fornells may fit the bill for you. A couple of good websites for researching are http://www.islas.co.uk and http://www.menorca-net.co.uk

I suggest having a look at Ciutadella-the old capital of Menorca.Ideal for walking around the narrow streets. As for hotels have a look at hotel Port Ciutadella, right on the sea front and just a ten minute stroll to the town centre.Beautifull!

It doesn't matter where you go a holiday is what you make it, its all about exploring all the areas you can in the time you are there. Some restaurants are poor but most are good/excellent they all love the British because we spend so much money with all the countries I have never had any problems.

If you have car hire it would be best in Menorca, Avis give you a free map to explore the island Arenal d'castella have a beatiful bay where you can have lunch and the kids can play on the beach while you wait for your food, they do a beautiful fruit pizza ithought it sounded urrrr but believe if you have asweet tooth you'll love it, it was mouth watering with every bite.

Good luck let us know where you have booked :tup :tup :tup

Hi chix

If you are 50+ then I would suggest Santo Tomas (central and very quiet), Ciutadella (2nd city after Mahon but far west of the island) or Fornells (centre north, picturesque and very quiet) Although 3 quite different resorts. the pace of life in each suits the slightly older visitors. As 60+ers in May we are going to Ciutadella for 4 days and Santo Tomas for 2 weeks.

Whichever you choose Menorca is such a compact island that you do not need to stay in one place for the duration; there is a good bus system, car hire is easy to arrange and most parts of the island can be reached in a half day. Just enjoy.
