Had a good browse round over the weekend, and have now booked flights for 4 people with a company called Charter Flight Centre.
Flying from Manchester Fri 20th March 2009 for 2 weeks.
Price = £421pp (£23pp cheaper than last year), couldn't get anywhere near this price with previous companys used - and other sites are just asking way too much.
Very happy at that price, and counting the days down as from now !!
Spike.
Hi Spike will hopefully get to meet you this time round, we fly out Thursday 26 March
Hi,we are in the process of opening a travel agency here in Goa.Now, the main problem is booking charter flights because, NOT ONE uk charter company has applied for landing slots at Goa airport so far.So no flights are guaranteed as yet next season. You may think, that at the moment you are flying on a certain day but it looks like alot of the advertised flights will not be there come October.
When do they normally apply for landing slots? What is the situation on scheduled flights as we are due to arrive in Goa on 1st november?
Brochures are out in the shops and flights are ready to be booked through all ranges of media, so surely they can't/won't mess too much with what is already advertised ?
Please keep us all informed.
Spike (still happy)...
In the last few years Uk tour companies have been publishing the brochures sometimes 2 years in advance. However,if you read their terms and conditions there are no guarantees that what you book ,you will necessary get.As for flights as soon as i know something definite i will let you know.
For the last few years, there have been many comments made that Monarch will not fly to Goa again - but they keep on going.
Perhaps thats why it has been so hard to get the dates we want, they dont know how much they will be charging in taxes at the end of November.
Never mind we will get there in the end.
Have you tried Jetlite? I have found flights with them for about £75 but haven't tried to book yet.
Yes I have tried them, but they don't offer the right timings, that I need, we are not staying in Mumbai this year, so we need a flight that leaves Goa early in the morning. Afternoon is no good for us.
Thank you anyway.
we also leave Mumbai in the morning but there don't appear to be any early flights from Goa so we have decided to spend a couple of days in Mumbai again. Not so bad going out as there is only about a 4 hour wait between flights so by the time we collect the luggage, clear customs and transfer to the domestic terminal it shouldn't seem too long.
We will have a bit of a wait in Mumbai Airport as our BA flight takes off at 1.30 pm. But its only a matter of hours. It will soon pass.
Most years we spend a few days in Mumbai, but this year we have decided not to, we have seen all there is to see now, it is getting a bit repetative, seeing it all again. Although I would reccomend visiting Mumbai to everyone. It really opens your eyes.
Sorry Gemma, missed you out !! Yeah would be fun getting to the meet-up next year.
Saw that one but unfortunately our flight leaves Mumbai at 9-15 so not enough time between flights. Still, like the shopping in Mumbai and as we are leaving Goa with empty suitcases as going back in january there will be lots of room for new clothes!!
what a difference, unfortunately they havent the times we want.going out or coming back, and the other flights wont give me a chance to book.
I've booked with Kingfisher for next March/April. We couldn't get Jet Airways as all the cheap flights had already gone. I booked this at the beginning of May
The first flight to Goa is an India air flight at 0520 am.We caught this flight on Tuesday, on our way back from Kuala Lumpur/Singapore.Excellent service, as our travel agent here had booked us on a flight on the 24 July instead of June. They let us on with no extra charge. With all the security at Mumbai airport we were amazed to get through all the checks without anyone spotting it.
We booked our flights last December for December 2008 and March 2009 (with Monarch). Found out today that we are going to see a price hike due to fuel costs - Ive asked if we will get our deposit refunded but they refused - they wont tell me what the price rise will be but people I know had to pay another £300 for the two of them! Also the dates are not yet confirmed!!! Whats that all about? Ive booked for the 19th December as I work at a school so cannot have the dates changed - does anyone know if we will be refuinded if the airline change the date? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jo
You may be able to get the money back, because it is not flying on the 19th but that again depends on whether it was a confirmed date when you booked. If it was not a confirmed date I think they have you over the barrel. All you can do is explain the situation to them, or try and claim off your insurance.

How will I know if it was "confirmed"? When I booked I was given that date with a return date of 2nd Jan.
Thanks Jo
