I'm not sure if anyone can help, but can anyone recommend a cheap flight company for 2 friends who are in Thailand at the mo, but want to visit both Cambodia and Vietnam, before going to Auckland, NZ?

Your friends will almost certainly have to return to Thailand for a flight to NZ. Vietnam Airlines do flights from Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) to Australia (Melbourne and Sydney)from where they could get a cheap flight to Auckland but I don't think direct flights from Vietnam to Auckland exist.
