Hi Ron
Yes you can go in shorts if you like, there isn't any real dress code but most people do go in smart casual. It's a good value for money night out, it gets a big thumbs up from me
:tup :D :tup

Yes - smart casual is the norm - I love this place ever since I stayed there in 1984 and 86. Not earning now so Friday night at the Taj is our monthly treat for the 6 months we are in Goa.
Daytripper do the best deal there - we did go to the Taj to see if we could do it ourselves but found out that it was the same price as Daytripper and they take you there and back in their coaches.

http://www.daytrippergoa.com then click on Gala Dinner or something like that - it is at the bottom of the page.

This sounds like a great night out and all for £8.50!! If you are staying in the Baga/Candolim area, will the coach pick you up from there and take you back?

Yes - Daytripper pick you up from different points from Baga to Candolim. The coaches come back about 1/4 to 11 but you can stay on for the disco but you have to find your own way home.

This hotel looks really nice and we want to book a really nice hotel for November 2007. I am surprised there are no reviews on it in the hotel reviews section mind you :hmmm

you are right! I thought we had this hotel on the review page. I have now asked for it to be added.

Thanks Fiona thats great :D Looking forward to reading some reviews. Hotel looks very nice.

Sorry to be a dissenting voice but I thought the Fort Aguada Gala Night was a bit tacky. The hotel is very swish but you could have been anywhere because it didn't feel very Indian. The entertainment was poor (and fewer acts than billed) and the food wasn't anything like as good as it should have been - you can certainly eat better in the shacks.

It all felt a bit "Viva Espana" to me but I guess if you like that sort of thing, it will be fine.

Been visiting Goa since the mid eighties and tried a couple of shacks in that time, but missed the dessert section in them, which is better than the Taj, which shack is it? must give it a try next month Alan

:omg Roma im shocked at you saying the food at the fort aguada is as good as any shack......the food especally the desserts are to die for :tup the show that is laid on is good im not saying its brill but it does pass a night ....can anyone tell me have they ever stayed on for the disco I have read on the forum there is a disco after the show is this true :?: (colleen)

You've got me on desserts Gramps because I hardly ever have them (except at the Mermaid) but I guess it's down to individual taste...and perhaps we hit it on a bad night but believe me, the food wasn't great. We weren't the only ones to comment on it.

I know what you mean Colleen about "passing a night" and at 500 rupees or whatever it is, you're hardly being ripped off, but Goa is so great and countless restaurants so good that there's no need to spend time anyplace average!

It just all seemed a bit souless but hey, different strokes for different folks!

Is it true though that the drinks prices are the same as UK
Reply
Yep ,all saints it is as expensive as a 5* here e.g. bottle of kingfisher £3.50 (hubby nearly passed away) even bottle of water £1.50 so suprise, suprise not to much drinking goes on. You have to either drastically reduce alcoholic intake - take loads of dosh or sign the pledge.

I have met a few people who have stayed there, but they have never stayed for the full holiday, they have only stayed there for one or two nights, to celebrate a birthday or wedding anniversary. Even though they have said that they have enjoyed the stay, they were absolutely astonished at the prices charged, especially the prices charged if they use the bars, or even the mini bars in there room. :?:

Considering that we spend very little time in our rooms, I cant see the point of paying close on 100 poundsa night, just for a bed to sleep in. :(

I have visited it, and everything is really beautiful there, its a first class hotel. but I don't like the prices.
