Does anyone know of anyone that has gained employment due to the Olympics being held in the uk?
Will the Olympics actually help to build on the economy here in the uk, or will it have that opposite effect and cost us tax payers more money!!!
Not sure about the Olympics per say, but the huge great shopping center, called Westfields that they have bulit right next to it has created 1000's or retail jobs.
I know people who have been employed there & Stratford in East London has been considered a socially deprived part of the UK for about 100 years maybe more, so hopefully some jobs have gone to the locals, given them a bit of a chance & some self respect.
I'm not one of these people that can only see the Olymipics in a bad light like many.
Presumably that shopping center will be there for decades creating work and leisure in the area, not just three to six weeks. I dont suppose it would have been bulit otherwise.
OK so they aren't fantastic jobs but in a Europe with ever escalating unemployment (was in Spain last week 25% & 40% amongst young people I am sure they would love something like that) any job is better than nothing.
