Thanks for your replies, I have managed to get a Quote from FHR for the Courtyard Marriott Gatwick for £78 using a code (£10 off) which sounds pretty good! Has anyone stayed there? It says you can walk to the South Terminal...........some of the reviews say there is no pavement & others say its fine to walk!
Any advice would be great!
Debsx
Hi Debs, i have not stayed at the marriott, but was at gatwick last week and saw people walking from the hotel towards the airport as i went to park up!! once you have crossed the road i would head for the hilton entrance and cut through the hotel foyer and through to the airport that way rather than walking along the road and up to the airport entrance and drop off zone, it would be about the same distance but a bit more safer. check with the reception about the shuttle bus though as it might be a better option than dragging cases for what would be about a 500m plus walk.
Do the Hilton, Marriott or Sofitel have minibars in the room which I can use as a fridge to store some food to take on a flight?
We have booked the Hilton & I need a fridge for Insulin, I was told they they didn't have fridges in the room! I was told by Marriott (Court Yard) that the did have a fridge, I don't know about the Sofitel. I hope this helps.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is now a Mcdonalds before security at North terminal, can anyone clarify this for me please.
Thanks all.
Deb.
There's only McDonalds after security in the South Terminal according to Gatwicks website.
Darren
Debs, we were at the Hilton in march and there was a fridge/minibar (empty) in the room , we always buy orange juice from M&S and chill it , to help wake up in the morning!!
Hi,
There is a Burger King landside in the south terminal if that's any help.
Thanks Traveller. I am sure we will find somewhere to grab a bite.
My husband and I are flying out to the Maldives in June on my birthday from Gatwich north terminal and I fancy booking us into a VIP lounge. Does anyone have any advice on which I should choose? The Aviance or Wentworth Servisair seem to be the options. We want comfy chairs and some peace and quiet! Any suggestions?
Thanks!
We have only used the Aviance lounge in the North terminal and have always found it to be quiet. It is a good place to be if there is a delay to your flight as you are allowed to stay (provided the place isn't packed).
We booked into the Wentworth last year and it was a very pleasant experience.
For anyone who has had their holiday canceled & had paid pre booked car parking at Gatwick, it now states on Gatwick Airport homepage that no payment will be charged for overstay, also there will be no charge for canceled car parking. We had booked Flightpath North for our holiday, I rung them this morning to see if I could transfer my parking to may. Well, I had to pay again with the hope of getting a refund minus £10 admin fee. I have since seen this on the Gatwick site so have just rung them again to let them know what it says. I am currently awaiting a call back to see if I will indeed get a whole refund!
Just some info for anyone who may have booked like us & written it off.
Deb.
We are flying with Thomson next week from Gatwick North terminal to Palma, does anyone have any idea as to which gates they use at Gatwick. We usually fly with Easyjet & we know we have to trundle over the airbridge to get to their gates.
Any help would be appreciated please.
Thank you
Deb.
Can anyone tell me what food shops/restaurants at Gatwick North Terminal?
Also, can you take sweets, chocs etc in hand luggage?
S
A list of shops is available on Gatwicks website. You can take sweets and chocolates in your hand luggage. It's only liquids, gels and items on the prohibited list that you are restricted by. Detail are on our HAND LUGGAGE REGULATIONS & INCREASED SECURITY .. Q&As topic.
Darren
Thank you Darren
Back in April somebody asked the question about whether there's a Mcdonalds in the North Terminal & the answer is YES. its before security on the second floor which they call "The Avenue".
Hope this helps
Are you sure? I think it closed down some time ago.
