Caz. No, you can't really predict the weather in September. It can be superb, still very hot and certainly beach weather, but last year there were storms and bad weather around the middle of the month. That was last year. Doesn't mean it will be the same this, and I hope it isn't. If it is fine it'll be just great.

I often tell people to advoid the western med from september onwards because that is when it gets more unsettled as atlantic fronts push further south than in the summer. I went in the 3rd week of september to alcudia and we had 3 days of heavy rain. I won't at that time of year again. Try and go east to the greeks islands, turkey or cyprus. Summer hangs on in there that little longer and sometimes right up to the last week of october.

We went to Cala D'Or last October (about the second week). We had a fantastic week weather wise - we were able to sit out until late into the evening and hubby did not put a sweater on all week!

I appreciate that nearer the mountain area you are likely to get a little more rain but you may just get a glorious week too.

We went to Menorca (next island along) from 18th September last year and the weather was superb. It rained a little on the coach transfer and I think the only other time it rained in our two weeks there was during the night which we didnt notice. We're going to Club Del Sol which is between Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia from the 18th September for two weeks so hope to get similar weather again.

We have holidayed in Majorca twice in October and both times we have been very lucky and had fantastic weather. Last year we even had temperatures hitting the 30s. We have also holidayed on mainland Spain and had torrential rain but it was still nice and warm between the torrents. It really is a hit or miss and sometimes depends where you are on the Island. We were in Magaluf 3 year ago and had 2 weeks of lovely sunny weather but every night we watched the most fantastic thunderstorms which were over the Callas de Mallorca area. Met a friend in Palma who was staying in CDM and she was really disappointed with the weather, she couldn't believe how tanned we were and we were only along the coast from them.

On the occasions I have stayed in the north or east coast with N/W wind causes clouds to build over the mountains that spill right down along the east coasts. If the counditions are right the clouds dump large amounts rain in a local area whereas the south coast will be completely dry and sunny. If the clouds get a rotation to them then a small area of low forms moving back and forth along the mountians keeping the unsettled weather going in the northern and eastern resorts.

I've thought of a username for you - Michael Fish!

Blinking heck - how stressful must your holidays be, to be so strung out about weather?

I'm not going to go on about how the weather is (generally) better in the south of the Island, because those who prefer to go to the north get all precious, but the weather can be unpredictable, at any time of the year.

Our worst weather of this year was in April when we had about 3 weeks of poor weather just at the time that the weather in the UK was glorious (don't know what winds caused that - maybe CTOAUN might know) and since then it has been absolutely fantastic weather, until last week when we had torrential rain for one night only (lasted a couple of days longer in the North) and it was much needed.

I've lived here for 4 years, and holidayed here for many years before that, and I know that the weather here is normally brilliant. This last winter it barely rained between November and March, but I wouldn't go round telling people to expect that, because if it changed, I'd look a real twit.

I predict your weather during your holiday in September will be fantastic, the sun will shine every day, and you'll return home with a golden tan.

Enjoy!

The last 2 years we have holidayed september both to spain. We just had 2 days on each of the holiday of rain, the one last year in Salou was a 10 hour thunder storm which was amazing to watch.

This year we are going away in August (8 more sleeps :yipee ) to Calas De Mallorca, only because of taking the kids out of school.

WE went to Alcudia for a week 15th September 2 years ago - it rained a couple of times but still had plenty of sunshine! My Dad always says to go south in Majorca after August.

Last year went to Cala D'or - had fab weather, cloudy a couple of times and I think a thunderstorm in the night. That was September again - we returning September again this year, back to Cala D'or.

Think the weather is off keel and a lot less predictable than it used to be. Normally if it's a storm or rain normally comes and goes! I'm sure you'll have a fab time no matter what! Especially if you have no kids - you can hit the bar!!
