Can anybody tell me the best place to look for information on procedures and laws for getting married in Turkey. Also if anybody knows any costs involved it would be appreciated.
Thanks. Bev x
We got married in Gumusluk, Bodrum Peninsula in May this year. Hayal Dedeoglu organised it for us. I found her through typing into Google 'Get married in Turkey'. In January and we were married only a few months later. This also throws up sites telling you everything you need to know about Turkish Law/British Law etc. We went for the ceremony only package and it was around £800 but you can add on anything you want for a bigger do.
Hayal organised everything for us. She was friendly and professional and everything went without a hitch. We could not recommend her enough. She is Turkish and went to Windhester Uni, so is fluent in English.
If you want any more info, PM me.
It's easy! Good luck!

i would love to get married in Turkey its just the blood tests and everything! after reading on here i am a bit confused as some people saying that you dont need to have one done??
We had to have blood tests done but they weren't so bad - and that is coming fom someone who is terrified of needles
If we get married in Turkey it will be where his family lives. i get confused but i think its Antalya. We are living together now so we have all bills and everything like that do we have to take those with us or what application forms do we need??
Once you have that done and have the bood tests and medical report you can book an appointment at the registry office.
Thats the only reason i dont want to get married in Turkey becasue of the blood test. iv heard that you dont have one, that you have it taken from the arm and its just the smallest test in the finger so dont know what to think lol am teffified of needles!!!
My friend got married in turkey and she took everything bills, pictures, and well alsorts to prove that they was living together

I think you are confusing the proof required for getting your husbanda visa after the marriage with the documents required for getting married. You don't have to prove anything other than that you are single and are eligible for getting married in order to get married but when you apply for a visa afterwards, that is when they may ask you for proof that the marriage is a real one.
So for him to apply for his visa after we are married what documents would we need then? is that where all the application forms come in??
thank you for clearing that up for me its all too confusing for me!!

Both my partner and i are planning on getting married in turkey in sept 2010. The problem is i have no idea where to start ...
I have researched areas and i fee that olu deniz would be perfect.. I would love a beach wedding but as i dont know the area well i am finding it hard to get my head around it all. I began thinking that i would hire a wedding planner and steer clear of a larger travel agents.. but because of my lack of knowledge im starting to sway to that idea. Before i do this can any one help???? Although i want my wedding to be as uncommercial as possible i really want a lively area for all of my family and also our honeymoon.. we like bars . Any advice would be greatly recieved
can anyone tell me if I have a blood test that proves im not pregnant do I still have to wait 300 days after my divorce as my fiance has spoken to a turkish lawyer who says this is the way to get round waiting the 300 days
firstly we went to the registrars in the uk to get the papers we needed to take with us and have some passport photos taken.
anyway we decided that the week of our wedding we didnt want a journey to the british consulate in antalya about 4-5 hrs away and back in 1 day with young children, so we choose to go on another weeks trip to turkey within 12 weeks of our wedding date, just for the ease of it, but you dont have to do this it could be done the week of your wedding. we did all the paperwork staying in antalya that week, it took about half a day going around from consulate to government office and waiting for ages here and there.
the week of the wedding you need to go to fethiye and see the registrar, etc which took about half a day, backwards and forwards to various places, you need to take someone that can speak turkish and english with you.
everything is very laid back in turkey and they think nothing of sorting out weddings the week of it, not like us a year before .
i asked the restaurant people at the lagoon beach if we could get married there and they said yes no problems , so i know they will do it for you all you need to do is arrange it when you are there.
hope all goes well
karen
