Yes,easy to book at Sky Sports office assuming it is still running this year. I think the trip only runs a couple of times a week and as there is a max of about 12 people it is worth booking ASAP when you arrive. The office in Oludeniz is next to Buzz Bar on the seafront. I think there might be one in Hisaronu as well.

Wish I'd known about the bikes, would have made a change from horses or Shanks's pony! Next time perhaps.

A friend and I went to Olu in August last year and did a lot of walking even venturing to the top of Babadag climbing the mountain route as opposed to taking the roads. Does anyone know of any good books with routes in ? We are going back early September and would like to try some different walks.

Thank you

We came back from Turkey yesterday and did the walk described on the previous page from Hisaronu to Kayakoy. The directions were spot on and it was a very pleasant afternoon stroll of around 5km taking 1 hour or so. Not much wildlife but we did see a tortoise!

I seem to remember last year seeing a sign pointing to a path to the beach from kaya. How far is it? Would it be too far in the heat of the day or well worth the effort? How would we return?

Iv'e done this walk on my first Turkish visit. I presume you mean from the Ghost Town at Kayakoy to Olu Deniz? I actually walked from Ovacik to Hisaronu to the Ghost town then over the hills to Olu. I walked this on the first week in August when the temparature was pushing toward the mid forties. I was fortuanate that it was the day before i finished my holiday so i was very brown and moreover had some resillience to the sun.
My advice would be to take plenty of water (3 litres) as the walk took me more than 6 hours, bearing in mind i got lost at one point. The path from the Ghost Town to Olu takes you up and over rugged out crops initially before you decend into a pine forest, and if you miss the turn left in the path as i did, will take you down to the shoreline. I then had to walk back to the top! The route has red or blue arrows painted on the rocks that you follow, just make sure you dont miss any!
I was on my own, and bearing in mind i didn,t see a soul until i got to Olu, had some concern over twisting my ankle or something and having no one to come to my aid. As i said it was hot so make sure you are covered up and have suitable sun block. Also tell someone where you are going, my wife was getting frantic back at the hotel.
I say all this because i concider that i was inadequately dressed, had half a litre of water, and when you think i had only intended to walk to the Ghost Town, bit off more than i could chew (got a taxi from Olu back to the hotel), but would definately do it again as the views are more than rewarding.

Thanks Eddy - you sound a similar chap to myself. When I've been to the Lake District I've often bitten off more than I could chew but somehow chewed it and lived to tell the tale! What's life without a bit of excitement, risk and challenge now and then?

To do all that on your own was very brave (or foolish, but I'd say brave - well done!)

Hello Suzi,
You must be so excited! I am off to Olu Deniz on the 12th june.

I also want to visit the ghost town and i read somewhere (probably on here) that it is best to get an early morning dolmus to Hisaronu and then take another dolmus from there to Kaya. Someone who has actually done the trip might have better info though. :D

Have lots of fun. 8)

the dolmus run into kaya village (ghost town ) or for a bit more excitement use a travel agent and do the horse ride through the mountains its wicked but does give you a sore arse if you are not used to it
check out my web site on links for recommended travel agents
so all the trips to kaya go from the village of hisaronu so its a dolmus up the hill to the turkish paradise apts/ hotel ( big roundabout at top of hill )then cross over the road and walk down into the village you will get a dolmus there out side abbracadabra or midas touch jewellers then read the front little board it should say kaya if you have more questions on the area please ask

Hi
Its really easy to get to Kaya Koy from Olu Deniz. Either a taxi direct or a Dolmus from Olu to Hisonaru and a 2nd one up to the village. We went in the early evening and the views were something else. I would definatly recommend you avoid midday as it is very hot up there.

We decided to visit Kaya Koy when on holiday in Hisaronu.Just missed the dolmus so decided to start walking & catch the next one on route.Walking uphill, feeling hot & bothered,a car pulls up,the driver asked us where we were going, told him & he offered us a lift.He said it was to far to walk on a hot day.I was a bit apprehensive but my husband said ok.In the back of this ancient car the floor & most of the seat was covered in large watermelons.Squeezed in,our feet higher than the seat, off we went at a brisk pace, watermelons bouncing aound! All the way to Kaya Koy the driver was chatting away, half the time we were just saying yes,no or mmmm because we could only understand the odd word.At the outskirts of the village we asked to be dropped off,but the driver insisted he would take us to the entrance. We travelled a bit further, the car stopped & we got out after handing over the watermelons that had travelled on our laps.We offered the 2 men some lira as we said thankyou, but they wouldnt accept it,just shook my husbands hand, kissed my cheek & we waved goodbye! We got the dolmus back!!!!!!
