Hi, I have noticed our flight on Wednesday 17th August is no longer showing as available from Newcastle................No idea what is going on
TC have cancelled all Belfast flights and Bournemouth, Norwich various flights. There is something going on at T Cook which they are not disclosing, they are obviously trying to consolidate their flights and I think unless you are flying from Gatwick or Manchester its plums for the rest of us. I am so mad at them and of course the trouble you have to actually speak to a human is beyond a joke.
Oh Im worried now, will have to try to ring them tomorrow
I contacted Thomas Cook on Monday morning, as we have just paid for a holiday to Tunisia in June flying from Leeds but then noticed that all flights from Leeds have disappeared. After a lot of effort, the rep I spoke to told me that Airtours have put a block on all new holiday flights from certain airports (including Leeds and I presume Glasgow and apparently also Belfast) because they are now consolidating future holidays. BUT, (after much cajoling) she checked and told me that the flight we have paid for is still showing as live with an almost full allocation (only six empty seats). This means that the flight is likely to go ahead.
The problem appears to be where flights are nearly empty, as what is then happening is that Airtours are combining flights by moving passengers to another airport. I read on another forum at the weekend of one couple who have been offered Birmingham instead of Leeds, for example.
So, if Thomas Cook are being honest, the lack of holiday flights on their website does NOT mean that holidays have actually been cancelled.
Having said that, I am glad that I already have travel insurance!
Good luck with your flights!
Getting conflicting stories from T Cook, tel again this morning to be told flight not cancelled and still going ahead, meanwhile getting a facebook from T Cook (at the same time!) telling me flights def cancelled but their "operations team" havent got round to telling people yet. There are a lot of very unhappy t cook travellers on other forums who have been seriously messed about by their cancelling flights and not saying.
Just been looking on the PPRUNE network (Professional Pilots Rumour Network). There are several indicators there that Thomas Cook have cancelled a large number of flights, contrary to the information being handed out by TC staff.
thanks! Looks to me like T Cook are very much abandoning Tunisia, unless you live near Gatwick or Manchester - so much for helping the tourism industry back on its feet (as they like to say on their website) They have told me they cannot do anything i.e offer an alternative etc until they actually "officially" advise the Glasgow flight is cancelled. Limbo dancing here and angry with it, couldnt wait to go back, we returned on 10 Jan just as all the trouble kicked off, our 3rd visit in a year and if this is the way we are supporting them its such a shame!
May have to change to the Sunday flight!
Not much good when it took ages to get the 2 weeks off work in the first place and those are the only ones I can get.
They have finally sorted me and managed to change to Sunday flight, have noticed a complaint from another Newcastle traveller whose flight has also been cancelled. T Cook have a forum & also facebook pages which you can see lots of complaints re their flight changes/cancellations to Tunisia. The facebook page was really the only correct info I was able to get. You could maybe post a message on that t get a quicker response as they seem to have customer service people who can help. Good Luck
Already done that and the response I got was................they are changing airports in Tunisia so have taken flights off sale to update.
Biggest load of nonsense and I told customer service that tonight.
I will ring on Monday and do what the guy told me, ask them to ring product manager to see what os going on.
Might not be able to go if we have to change to the Sunday as our manager may not give us the time off (end of holiday)
Email from Direct holidays today to say our Newcastle (Wednesday) flight is cancelled and have put us on flights 4 days later.
£50 off each adult.....................now I have to persuade my boss to give me the time off.
Took some haggling to get the time on first place!
Wish me luck
They treat us like idiots dont they ! Well at least 4 days isnt too bad to change - we are the same Wed now Sunday. Enjoy Tunisia
TC were apparently well in evidence at Monastir this weekend trumpeting how good it is that people are returning to Tunisia, but I very much doubt they mentioned how difficult they are making it for people to actually fly there. As I said on FB - actions speak louder than words or, as my mother used to say, "Fair words butter no parsnips."
Good quote!! I got so mad with them I responded to a Travel Weekly article last week which was applauding TC for returning and told them its was untrue and that they were cancelling - guess what they printed on Friday - Truth! Oh and TC have already changed my flight from Sunday overnight to Sunday evening (which is actually the Thomsons flight) - somehow seem to have gone full circle as our original choice of operator was Thomsons ! God help us when we go back at Christmas (if ?)
Got the time off work sorted to suit TC!!
Well done mackem. Now you can look forward to your holiday,
Ive just had a phone call from Thomson saying they have sent out letters(by mistake) to say we are flying from Manchester instead of Newcastle
I told them I would not be going if the flight was going from Manchester but she reassured me the flight is definitely going from Newcastle.
They dont seem to know what is happening with all the flight and airport changes.
I wonder if a flight has been scheduled to depart from Manchester instead of another airport.
If this is so some people are due to get these letters.
I have never known such a shambles and honestly don't think their right hand knows what their left hand is doing Text me when you arrive and we'll meet up next week - I'm now at the Royal Salem.
I am getting excited as I have started the packing.
