Visiting North Goa again in November 05 and would like to incorporate a trip to Taj Mahal, Agra etc. Has anybody done a similar trip with one of the travel companies over there? How was it? What were hotels like? How much? Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks
The trip we did, cos we had a bit of time, was to catch the train upto delhi (25hours!!!!), stay one night in hotel, get up in morning on train to agra, transfer to hotel, then visit taj mahal, red fort and have lunch in five star hotel. Then we had rest of day in agra to explore. then next morning a driver picks you up and takes you to fatiphur sikri (hope that how its spelt!) and then onto Rathambore tiger reserve. Its quite a drive but very interesting driving acroos india, seeing lots of different things! Stay ina tent at Rathambore (its like a house more than a tent!). Next moring do a safari (we got to see a tiger!), and another safari in afternoon after lunch (included). Then at the night drive to jaipur, transfer to hotel. Morning after visit all sights in jaipur, have an elephant ride! Very nice city! Then drive to delhi and stay overnight. Day after retun to goa via flight!
Its was quite a long trip, but sooo glad we did it. If you dont have to much time you can do the trip without visiting rathambore tiger reserve. And also fly both ways instread of the train.,
The trip we did lasted 5nights 6 days (i think) and it was around £490. We got a discount for under 30 years old.
The hotels you stay in along the way were nice. They were basic - bed tv, bathroom. But all were clean and staff were friendly.
I would definatley recommende this trip, and also Daytripper. WE did other trips with them to hampi and places and each trip, you are well looked after by the staff escorting you.
They have a website http://www.daytrippergoa.com if you contact them mention that you have been recommended by laura and stuart who did the tiger trip! its best contacting him before you go so they can book you on flights and trains ect.
let me know how you go on! hope this helps!
Hi Roma I can only echo what lauraj has said. don't be put off by the long train trip as this is also good fun
You can't miss the place and I seem to recall it was about £ 70 to do the Taj Mahal by plane - Never got around to it myself
