Unless you want to stay in Glossop itself, I'd stay here, it about 15 miles away along the attractive Snake Pass and the pub is well known for it's good food:

Guess you'll not want to travel 15 miles at around midnight in a taxi (no offence to MariaH but ....I wouldn't)
The Yorkshire Bridge looks really nice, but it is a bit far out. I think it's going to be between the Avondale and the Birds Nest in Glossop itself. Anybody stayed at either of them recently?
Have alook in hayfield thats nice
Past the snakes pass from Glossop, you are likely to get nicer guest houses and B&B's. There is not that many that I would recommend in Glossop, however there is the benefit of not having to travel through the snakes pass as the traffic is horrendous.
You could always stay in Manchester which is a 30 minute train journey or around 50 minutes in the car.

I can't recommend it as I don't know anyone who has stayed but it looks decent. It's only about a mile or so from the town centre.
Booked the Avondale yesterday. Thanks for your comments.
