Hehe Fiona you've found my weak spot :D I'm gonna love reading this thread! Butter Chicken was one of the dishes I learnt on my cooking lessons. I made it the other night and it was nice, Bit hot though I increased the chilli quxntity as you would the other spices :yikes but other than that it tasted the same. I brought back a masala called 'Kitchen King' any one know what's in it :?:

I could list a few. After 7 do a camembert souffle that's out of this world - also a barbequed watermelon (yes really) and panneer dish that's really different and original. Never tried barbequing a watermelon but I think I know what would happen if I did!

sorry- I don't believe the barbecued watermelon!!

Love the Vindaloo - I have said before don't let the name put you off,it is in no way the same as in the UK. You can ask for non-spicy or spicy (spicy in Goa means heat - not flavoursome)
BBQ Watermelon, yep seen it - on a skewer with other fruits sprinkled with sugar and grilled for a few mins each side, really nice with a Kulfi icecream.
Not a good thread you started here Fiona - 7 weeks 'till we go but reading about the food I want to be on that plane now !!!!!!!!!!

Would have to be Goan chicken curry. Best from Bob Marley shack, Candolim Beach but I'd suffer it from any restaurant or shack in Goa.

Or Malai Kofte, not sure if it's actually Goan although Goa is the only place I've found it. When I ask in the local take aways at home they look at me like I'm some sort of lunatic.

It is all so nice but I think the butter chicken and vindaloo get my votes too.We tried the sorpotel the first time we went to Calangute, and liked it! Can't remember the name of the restaurant that did it. (It was quite a few years ago) We haven't seen sorpotel on any menus since we've started going to Candolim. Any one know of any restaurants that do it? Might give it a try again when we go back.

There was a restaurant in Vagator called JAWS that did lots of Goan dishes and i think TIN TINS also in Vagator did it too, not a bad night out for a few drinks Vagator just for a change of scenery.

Never been to Vagato. I'll maybe check out the restaurants when we go back to Goa in March.

How about Chicken Lollipops.

Again probably not Goan, but nice all the same.

A Truly Goan Dessert Bebinca, only if you have a sweet tooth though. It's like a moist coconutty sponge cake anyone tried it? :?:
