going back to Thailand

well- I thought I was having a year off of going to Thailand but we have just decided to have a holiday just after Christmas( and I mean just after- the 26th) and it looks as if it may be Phuket or Krabi. Can't decide which
Fiona, you are so lucky to go away at Xmas - I wanted to go away at Xmas again but my job will not allow me to then as I've had the last 2 years.
I went to krabi a few years ago at Xmas and I loved it, I'll bet your busy researching it now, thats my favourite bit, doing all the research and choosing hotels.

I haven't actually started yet( still trying to get India sorted 
) We don't usually get the opportunity to go away at that time of year as OH is often working either Xmas Day or New year- so we will make the most of it.
So- Krabi or Phuket? Hmmm.... If its Phuket we will have to chose carefully. I dont want something like Chaweng( or even worse) but do want enough to do at night.

It is a few years since we visited Phuket but we particularly liked Kata area for the lovely beach and nice little town with enough restaurants etc.
You can always do both..a bit of Phuket and a bit of Krabi. Don't leave it too late as things get booked out at that time of year. Prices get scary as well.
we don't really have time for both I'm afraid as we leave on the evening of the 3rd.
How long are you going for Fiona - you lucky thing.
taking the flight days out we would only have 6 clear days. But we did a trip to Hua Hin one year that was only for 7 in total and several other long haul holidays outwith Thailand. My view is- better that than nothing at all!
( and it is a free flight- just waiting for my redemption voucher now, should be here in the next few days. I'm hoping that the Thailand flights will still be there then )

It's alright for some !
We (Janet and I) are giving Thailand a miss this year (almost certainly anyway).
I'm sure that we will miss it, but will probably want to rush back in 2008! (plans seem to be Goa- this month; Spain - May; Singapore /Bali (still to be booked) - and perhaps Kenya late in the year.
Should I start researching 2008 yet? - Hmmm - tempting

NOW if Sunbear is still researching Taiwan - perhaps London / Bangkok / Taipei / Saigon with a stopover in Taiwan going out and Bangkok coming back...................

Organic Yak's milk - highly prized - apparently you can also watch TV there these days (unfortunately it will probably be Sky and Fox News!!!!!)
Sorry - I guess Bhutan has all the appeal, to me, of a 1945 beach holiday on Iwo Jima (Having said that, the people, culture and history are probably very interesting)
It's not just Bhutan where the beaches aren't rated too highly

Just got my tickets for my 2007 trip to BKK.... off on 04/05 from Gatwick and back from BKK on the 20th. I'll be Silver with Etihad Guest FF on the way back which will give me lounge access and another 10Kg on luggage making it 40Kg!!.. now if only I could get my photos into the photo section...
I'll be going down to Koh Samet for the weekend of my birthday. I base myself in BKK as I get a cheap apartment there and then make day/overnight trips depending on flights. I managed to post 5 pics today thanks.. not sure if they got into the right album though!!

well- its official Back to Bangkok for next New Year. Unfortunately we could not get our free flights to Bangkok so are now going via Hong Kong( very cheap flights from HK with Emirates) We have decided with 6 days in Thailand its not worth going on from BKK( we have enough flights already ) We have a day and a half in Hong Kong on the way back as a bonus.
Back to Bangkok for next New Year. Unfortunately we could not get our free flights to Bangkok so are now going via Hong Kong( very cheap flights from HK with Emirates) We have decided with 6 days in Thailand its not worth going on from BKK( we have enough flights already ) We have a day and a half in Hong Kong on the way back as a bonus.
