hi
my husband,me and r 2 girls are going to gumbet in 3 weeks. we usually go to icmeler but fancied a change..we are staying at the greenhouse appts...

Greenhouse apartments are very nice and clean, thre are two pools there and a bar and restaurant. It is near to the main bars and restaurants too and just 5 minutes from the beach.
Trips worth doing are a boat trip, jeep safari, maybe waterpark depending how old your girls are.
Best restaurant is Seray Zetas, they do lovely Turkish food, really good prices too.
There are lots of shops in Gumbet but even better to go into Bodrum, just 15 minutes away by dolmus. There is a market in Gumbet on a sunday but it is very small, there is a weely market on tuesday in Bodrum by the bus station, which is very big and busy and another in Turgutreis on a saturday, about 30 minutes from Bodrum by dolmus.
If there is anything else you want to know just ask, I used to live there so I should be able to help. We are actually going to be in Gumbet the same time as you, we are going back for a holiday.

The market at Turgetries if very good but very crowded and hot. I agree with boat trip and jeep safari - both great days, with the boat trip being pretty chilling (and great for getting a suntan) and the jeep safari being great fun!
We have a house in Gumbet just outside the tourist area but spend most evenings in Cheers.
The shopping is great if you like bags, shoes and clothes (heaven for me!!) - just remember to haggle. Oasis shopping centre is also nice to have a look round - and the shops are good.
Hope you have a great time - I know we will. We went to Marmaris (and visited Icmeler) in June this year as we fancied a change but won't return as we much prefer Gumbet (each to their own of course but we found Gumbet to be a much friendlier place).
thanks for your replies....we cant wait to go now....shoes and bags sounds great to me(not sure oh would agree)...lol
there are so many mixed reviews on here you dont know what to expect....but as they say life is what you make it so we are going to have a great time
so thanks again
may see you there

I'll be in gumbet for the 8th time on the 14th sept staying at the greenhouse for the 5th time ....I just love the place ....but its a hit and miss time of the year ask Duan at the greenhouse for things to do with the kids ...there is a dolphin park on the road to bodrum airport which he recommends 4 kids ....I have to be honest with ya I have never seen too many acivities for kids in Gumbet ...the market in Bodrum on tuesdays has everything that that u'll get in the market at Turgutreis, on a sat which i recommend you stay away from with kids coz it scared the S**t outta me the first time I went there in 2000 . For lazy beach days I wud recommend you try Bitez just 3.50 euro in a taxi its so beautiful at that time of the year and the kids would nearly have the beach to themselves and the cafes and resturants along the beach always aim to please ...I have had a great meal in nearly everyone of them... hope u enjoy every minute of your hols as I do every year ...What a beautiful and friendly place to enjoy a relaxing hol .....OMG can't wait til 14th sept ...have fun and enjoy XxXMartxxX

angieh- Sorry don't know anything about the appartments your going to, but definately go on the 1 day gullet cruise, it's a fantastic deal, food included, and you can buy any drinks you want on the boat, with plenty of room on there for sunbathing!! It's up to you, but I wouldn't recommend the water-park unless they can guarantee your arrival time. We were told we were being picked up from the hotel at 10am, which we were, in a jeep. The jeep proceeded on to a cafe down the road, (which we could have walked to) which we sat in for just over and hour, for the bus. We arrived in the aqua-park just before 12 midday! When we got there, we complained but they didn't care a damn, they said nothing they could do, so we paid for a full day, only to have the afternoon!!!! Gumbet is one of the best resorts hubby and I have ever been too, and we've travelled quite a bit, so you'll have a fabulous time. x
