Going Tuesday(tomorrow) for 4 nights and staying in El Tiburon, small family run hotel, staying on a bb basis. I`ve booked this hotel as it`s got very good reviews from a few different review sites including this one. This hotel is just back from the beach.

I will let you know when I get back and I will post a review.

We stay at the Amaragua which is a 4* right on the beach. We found the best rates with Alpharooms. We're off there again in March.

I love La Carihuela :D and you will be spoilt for fish restaurants. :D
I have stayed in the Hotel Pez Espada many times, it is a 4* hotel on the beach and more or less in the middle of the promenade from the Puerto Marina to what I refer to as the "rock" which separates Torremolinos from Benalmadena, although the Torremolinos boundary actually starts from the stream by the side of the Hotel Aloha Puerto, which is another Hotel on the beach and as its name suggests, it is situated the Torremolinos side of the Puerto.
The Hotel Pez Espada is a Thomson exclusive and you will be unable to book this with the other leading Tour Operators, but may be able through a bed search....depending on your age, this hotel is geared more to couples and the "mature" clients ( I don`t mean zimmer frame age) :D and very few children have I seen when staying there.
Then there is the Hotel Baraccuda and the Amaragua, the Rui Nautilus which is about 700 mtrs from the Puerto.
Whilst I have only ever stayed in the Pez Espada, ( have stayed in other apartments) I wouldn`t say NO to any of the Hotels that I have mentioned, all are more or less on the beach and within a few minutes walk from each other.

Here is a map that I have just scanned, you should be able to find the location of the hotels that I have mentioned and others.
The "rock" is the headland that sticks out. :D and Carihuela is classed as from this headland to the Puerto

I returned from El Tiburon on Saturday night. El Tiburon is an excellent small family run hotel, it`s only a 2 star but what it lacks in stars it more than makes up for in service. We stayed for 4 nights and had our rooms cleaned and fresh towels everyday. All the staff made an effort to say hello. If your looking for a good priced, small and friendly hotel thats close to the beach, then you would love the El Tiburon.

I agree with Christine the El Tiburon is very very good and in a ideal position only downside if your stopping there in the summer no air con only ceiling fan otherwise you will not be dissapointed we booked through Alpha Rooms.
