I travel to Dublin on business and socially on a regular basis. If you want somewhere in the heart of things ie: Temple Bar, then try The Blooms hotel. Whilst not being a 5 star or anything, it's clean, comfortable, has a very nice bar and the breakfasts are excellent. The rooms are all en-suite and last time we stayed was very good value for money. Can't remember the exact price because when I go now I tend to stay with colleagues at Harolds Cross. Hope this helps.

Thanks barnio, that's a great help. I've just checked for availability and have found it on one site, so I will pass on the info. The rate is really good too! It says continental breakfast, is this the excellent breakfast you were referring to?

It may have changed then because when I last stayed, it was the full english which, after a night on the guiness, went down extremely well !!

The westbury hotel on grafton street is a fab. hotel and is really nice its a 5 star and the food in the restaurant is to die for. If you are looking for something a little cheaper The morrison hotel on the quays is a lovely hotel also and really contemporary inside. If you are looking for a budget hotel Jurys Inn Christchurch has a good recommendation but you can only book room only and the brekkie is extra.

I stayed in the Clontarf Castle Hotel when I stayed in Dublin. It is a bit pricier as it is 4 star, but well worth it for the fact that you are staying in a castle. For an anniversary or special occassion it would be perfect.

There are 2 bars, the Temple Bar and the Drawbridge, where you actually walk over the drawbridge thru the huge door. The restaurant is wonderful too and has the authentic windows, wrought iron lights and you eat off pewter plates and drink out of pewter wine goblets!

The hotel is wonderful to explore and has hidden doors and tapestries on the walls.

It is about 2 miles out of the town but we used to walk along the Bay after breakfast (which we needed to do!) and then hop on the bus the rest of the way. It didn't cost much and there were plenty of buses and the walk was pleasant by the Bay and the park.

Anyway, take a look if you can and see what you think.

Jurys Inn Custom House was a good hotel and reasonably priced. It was within walking distance to O'Connell Street and Temple Bar.

Nothing majorly fancy, but a 2/3 * that offers good value, clean stays, right in the heart of the city.
