Don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Google Earth now has much better resolution aerial photographs of much of the Turkish coast. Here's a view of Icmeler:

Wow thats a great piccie
Thats a fantastic picture! Can just about see where we sat! Didnt realise Icmeler was so big!
Ive been on Google Earth but all I get is a fuzzy piccie, can't get a clear view like yours
Try downloading the new version, beta 4,it shows icmeler quite clear but Marmaris is still a bit fuzzy.
Yeah I was on the other day and got a cracking view of Turtle Beach, ah well I can dream!
I don't think I was in any breach of copyright in posting a link to the image. The Google Earth website states:
"You can personally use an image from the application (for example on your website, on a blog or in a word document) as long as you preserve the copyrights and attributions including the Google logo attribution. However, you cannot sell these to others, provide them as part of a service, or use them in a commercial product such as a book or TV show without first getting a rights clearance from Google."
I think this falls under the heading of "personal use", don't you?

Dear David HT Mod

Hi Tony ... unfortunately not. Firstly, it wasn't a link which was posted, it was an actual reproduction of the copyright protected image.
Different sites may have different definitions of the term "personal use", but it generally refers to and permits downloading material to your own personal computer or your own personal webspace. It does not generally allow uploading to anyone else's website, including public access websites such as Holidaytruths, without the express permission of the copyright holder. The copyright holder may take into consideration whether material is to be used on a site which provides a service or one which is supported in any way by advertising.
In the case of Google Earth, each image is protected by three separate copyright policies, and Holidaytruths does not have express permission from any of them for reproduction.
As for links, if copyright protected material is lifted from a site and hosted elsewhere, we are unable to provide direct links to the material on that site, or we too may be deemed in breach of copyright.
In view of the legal implications, copyright infringement is something which gives us a lot of concerns at Holidaytruths and for that reason, we prefer that no material is reproduced on our pages unless it is the personal property of the member who is posting it.
Holidaytruths does have permission to use material from certain travel and media sites, but conditions apply as to how it is used, displayed and accredited by us to them. Failure to comply with their copyright restrictions could result in costly legal action.
David
Thank you for your informative clarification. I stand corrected.

P.S. For anyone who wants to see the pretty pictures, download Google Earth, type "Marmaris, Turkey" in the search, then pan, zoom & tilt away to your heart's content.

I would love to view this, unfortunately you have to have Broadband which I don't have, I have Windows ME and you also must have at least 128RAM and have only 120.

EDIT: ndshelton ... if you have nothing constructive to add to a discussion, it is sometimes better not to post.
