We're thinking of going to Gran Canaria this Easter during the school holidays but haven't visited the island for years - the last time being about 11 years ago to Playa del Ingles. We've been to Lanzarote (Costa Tequise/Puerto del Carmen) recently but wondered what Gran Canaria is like these days and which resorts are more family orientated and suitable for us. We don't want to stay anywhere with rowdy clubs and bars (which I imagine Playa del Ingles to be like now!). We like a resort to be relatively lively in the evenings with entertainment that we can all enjoy, e.g. pub quizes, mini golf, etc. We also enjoy walking around a marina, promenade, shops, etc.

I would welcome any advice on the most suitable resort for a family with two boys of 8 and 12, who love football and golf (mini golf and putting) that is no more than an hour or so from the airport.

Any recommendations for accommodation would also be helpful - ideally a "spotless" 4* with either 2 bed apartments or large family rooms. We're not bothered whether its AI, self-catering or bed and breakfast - just want to find good quality accommodation with daily/evening entertainment with an outdoor pool that isn't freezing cold, which they can be at this time of year!
