please can anyone advise us regarding what we can now take as hand Luggage. If it makes any difference we are flying from Man aboard Monarch with Thompson. Cig Lighters ??.(how does she get by for her fag break in Bahrain)!!Cosmetics now in Main Luggage? PSP etc etc.
thanx in advance. Can you but Duty free spirits in UK airport to take into Goa (and vice-versa)???
I understand that drinks can be carried but not through securty so would need to be purchased once airside but always best to check
Hello Helen&Clive, I recently travelled to Crete with Thomsons from Manchester and contacted them before flying regarding hand luggage. Liquids cannot be taken through security but can be purchased once airside (duty frees etc. and you can take duty frees into Goa) lighters are not permitted on any longhaul flights. Make-up, gels, toothpaste or similar also cannot be taken through security. I did read recently that these regulations are due to change sometime in November with a limit on the restrictions so if you contact your carrier the day before your holiday I'm sure they will tell you the current situation. lenny
Definitely no liquids or gels of any sort can go through security and that applies to lipsticks and lipglosses too. You can however buy them when you get through security and take them onboard with you. Cigarette lighters and matches are a definite no, no. As the others have said your airline will advise you, they might also have a list on their website - I booked with First Choice and they have the basics on there.
You can now take lipstick onto a flight with Firstchoice, the size of hand luggage however, is smaller than the IATA recommended standard, I have just printed off the info page from the Firstchoice website, we fly with them on the 27th Nov.
New regulations on hand luggage are starting on 6th Nov 06, there was an article in the Saturday Telegraph travel section (sorry dont know how to do link), it looks like some liquids, make up etc will be allowed, for the cigarette you are allowed to take a box of safety matches on board we have done this twice in the last two months without a problem, also inadvertently took a lighter through inside a cigarette packet and the scanner didnt pick it up
