I'm also on one of the last DC-3 (Dakota) flights before they are removed from passenger service due to ludicrous EC regulations on 10th July from Blackpool, that'll be a sad day for european aviation. New aviation regulations introduced on 15th July 2008 state that all commercial passenger aircraft have to have emergency oxygen supplies and escape slides fitted. That's fine, but the DC-3 doesn't fly high enough for passengers to need them and they are pretty low to the ground so it's easier and quicker to jump out rather than waste time deploying a slide. It's a bit like saying the E-type Jaguar can't be used on the roads anymore because they don't have airbags fitted
