They have now split the route into 3 or 4. One frome Hersonissos which goes up around Koutoulafari, one which goes from Hersonissos to Stalis with a couple during the day which run all the way through to Malia but finish at about 4 o'clock.
That was a couple of years ago and the round trip was about 8€ each. Don't know what they charge now. It is cheaper to get a taxi if there are a couple of kids with you.
just found this topic again. Apparently the train goes into Krasis. Just wondered whether the trip was worth doing. Anyone been to Krasis?
Was in Krassi last wednesday, it's a lovely traditional village in the mountains, well worth a visit. We hired a car for a few days so drove up but i did see trips advertised for 18euros on the happy train.
Thanks for that SMILEE. Was the trip going from Stalis itself. When we were in Kos years ago we went on a bus trip up to the beautiful little villages of Pia & Zia - very traditional with smashing hospitality.
It was a lovely day really relaxing excellent views. We had something to eat whilst there. There isn't loads to do but worth the experience and we've got great photographs.
Thanks for that. We'll certainly look into it.
I agree Impulse 08. It was worth going just for the views. It was a nice change from the resort.
