Hi All,my name is Ian and my wife is Elaine. We both took early retirement and live in a small Village called Ã-rnıkköy which is on the outskirts of Antalya, Turkey.Arrived here 2 years ago and bought the House around 18 Months before that.We are 25 Minutes from the centre of Antalya and a long way from anywhere else as Turkey is a Large Country. No regrets and Love the weather.I'm new to the site but if anyone needs any info, Please ask and I will do my best.
Ian
.
We often wish we had the courage to sell up and move to Turkey as we spend all our hols there.
It's the thought of having no base here in the uk, but I am sure one of our children would love to put us up from time to time,?
As soon as I retire which wont be long now, I am 63, husband 65, we are planning on spending three months at a time in Turkey, see how we go.
The only problem is leaving the family, Grand kids behind, mind you they are all grown up now so will most probly follow us out there.
The best of luck for the future
We only hear good about Turkey as a country. As we would not be living there we would need a beach town like Altinkum and where lots of holidayers go en masse.
Can you recomend where we may get good 1 - 2 bed apartment off plan with nice pool no more than 4 yards from beach. Doesnt have to be Altinkum, wherever you recommend but not too wild as masses want security of tourist town feel.
We will come over hopefully this year to look but would appreciate your thoughts having made a big life change. We are glad you have no regrets and that you are happy out there. Stuart
Hi Stuart H. Can't help you I am afraid. We live on the outskirts of Antalya and whilst there are a number of small 3* Hotels around us and Many Apartments,I personally would not buy an Investment property here.My apologies, but this is something you would need to look at yourself.
i like altinkum as it is a fifteen min walk to the old town of didim where you can eat turkish, buy furniture and has three massive supermarkets. i am not keen on the dancing waiters for entertainment but you do not have to sit at these places. it makes the resort look a little cheap but i am confident that when the marina is built and the golf course it will draw the right people and the bars will give us a bit of peace. the sea isbeautiful and perfect for little ones as it is shallow and crystal clear. there is a water park on the outskirts . we will definately come for a few months at a time when we retire (aren't we allright, wishing our years away). one thing though, dont buy solely for rental as there is a season in altinkum and such a glut of accomodation you would be lucky to rent. hope it is helpful to you. by the way, prices are really good, from 15,000 upwards. we paid 23,000 for a 3 bed, 2bathroom apt but no pool
