I always found this when I used to look at holidays on teletext. I used to find the same thing with the holidays advertised in the window of travel agents on the high street. Never once did I manage to get the advertised price they stated.

However, all they need say is that the holidays stated have already gone, I think it would be hard to prove that they were given false prices to get custom. Generally speaking most people would continue to search for a holiday at a price that suits and not bother to pursue anything like this.

We all have seen adverts that have no substance to them but this company advertises the same holidays on consecutive days sometimes cheaper than the previous day and as ive said they say they havnt got that holiday at the price advertised and then come back up with it cheaper the next day,and as ive now had two comments removed for possible libelous content I have to just point out the facts and with each and every person that reads my comments I hope the adverse publicity generated will save someone a lot of time and phone calls ps sorry to harp on but this has really irked me :x :x :x :x

bnira we don't like having to censor our members either believe me, but when you are on a public website you cannot, by law, make libelous comments. The only things I removed from 2 of your posts were a sentence that contained a libelous remark. It's the board that would take the brunt of any court action and we could risk the site being closed down which we aren't prepared to do.

For an insight into the libel laws please read the following and you may understand our position.

I was told once by someone that so long as Travel operators have 1 holiday at that price they can advertise it all they like. The old adage is true "If something looks too good to be true it's usually because it is!"

just watch teletext holidays night after night and see the same holidays come up at ridiculous prices then make up yopur own mind

on their website the 'total' price exlude extra taxes that are not made clear

Whilst I can understand your complaint I do not think that this is the place to tell your story.

Teletext Holidays are a reputable company. If you believe that an advert is misleading then you should complain direct to them. They will investigate and ban any company from their site if the allegations are found correct.

I do recall similar complaints in the past where they have done so.

Holidays advertised on Teletext will go out of date quickly as the prices change all the time and it is nearly impossible to keep them up to date.

On teletext the small print states that extras are to be added just bit misleading but that is the way it is

I always use Teletext but make sure it is one of the big companies or other well known ones, and always go to a named hotel. On bank holiday weekends Thomson usually have offers with no suppliments. You pay what you see on the screen.I look on Teletext web site almost every day but have noticed the companies on there seem to use hotels with bad reviews.

Last time i checked Thomsons sent people to the Casino Royal in lLloret, and that hotel is notorious for bad reviews, and that is inside the last year.
It is important to look closely at the small print at the bottom of the page as they advertise a price at the top but when you look at the bottom it says the price is based on 3 to 4 share for half board or all-inclusive,maybe thats why they never have the deal THAT HAS BEEN advertised when you call, they will probably argue that you should read the small print.
Also i might like to add that companies such as Hello,Sunstar leisure and Fleetway in particular are guilty of using this ruse to reel people in.
I think you will find that teletext while being a reputable company is perhaps guilty of not properly monetoring the activities of its member agents,as i have tried on numerous ocassions to book on teletext and been fobbed of,so much so we would not give them the time of day and as a result have looked elsewhere.
We now book our accomodation seperately from our flight but would rather use teletext for a package deal ,however they are so unreliable and they will have to get their act together before our confidence can be restored.

I use Kwik travel,Co-op and Hayes on teletext who are companies I have always found to be reliable.I have the direct phone numbers of the people I use and they sometimes phone me if a really good offer comes in.I always look at the hotel reviews before I book.

We went to the Lagamonte Hotel in Alcudia three years ago with Hello Holidays. We had booked a different hotel then they rang two days before to say the hotel was closed so they had booked us in the Lagamonte Hotel. You have to ring a number the day before to find out the time the coach will pick you up for your return journey. When the coach arrived the driver refused to take all the people who were waiting so it was chaos.

My experiance of Hello Holidays - which I booked online - was that last August I booked 5 days to Marbella for myself and partner. The day before I was due to fly out I'd still received NO tickets for flights, no confirmation of all - inclusive hotel details, no airport transfer confirmation or anything other than the automated email which arrived on first booking.
When I phoned them up and spoke to them it transpired that we'd booked onto a 7 day charter flight and hotel deal and instead of telling us that it simply wouldn't work as we were only going for 5 days they booked us onto an easy jet flight home (how we would have got to Malaga airport from the hotel 2 hours away I'm still left wondering!!). All this was news to me. They said that both sets of flights had been sent out separately yet neither of them arrived and it was an issue I needed to take up with the Royal Mail! When I asked for a refund they refused, when I asked to speak to a manager there wasn't one available. I provided my hotmail address and asked them to send me email confirmations and I'm still waiting. To surmise, I had no flight tickets for either flight, no accomodation details and no refund meaning I lost £850 through using this heavy handed holiday company. From now on I will only use high street agents that you can at least find and speak to face to face. Based on my HONEST experiance I would AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Are you saying that you have let them keep the £850 and haven't taken action against them???

For Steve

No I have taken action against them and am waiting a reply. When I get my - no doubt - refusal to refund our money then I have my credit card company primed and waiting to commence fighting for my money back. Will update with results.

Good to hear it.

The key thing here will be their Proof of Posting. If they haven't got one (so they can't prove they sent the tickets) or if they've got one but it shows they used an option that doesn't cover the value of tickets then the reasonable care and skill clause of the Supply of Goods and Services Act would be a good thing to refer to!

Excellent Steve!

Thank you! That does indeed sound like a good reference point to make!
