Morning lesley .

Are you going to be Glued to the pc today . I'll be here most of the day and Pat will help you too I'm sure . TBH she has more up to date info than me as it's been 2 or maybe 3 years since we were there last and the new side wasnt built then.

Morning Lyn and Lesley! Any questions ask away. I was there last November and then again in June this year, and have stayed at both sides, so have had the overall HSB experience!! Pat

Morning Pat, I've been pestering Lyn about the rooms. In one of the rooms there will be me, hubby and 13yr old son. On Hilton website we can have either a Family Garden room or a Triple deluxe for virtually the same price. Lyn thinks the triple will be in the new part.

Did you prefer the new part? Hubby will probably snorkle once, if not more, a day. Will this be an issue if we are in the new part?

Many thanks, Lesley.

To be honest Lesley if I had the choice I would pick the new part. The rooms we had were very spacious, and the bathroom was paticularly big. We had a double for me and hubby and a twin for our two daughters and both were lovely. I love snorkelling, and it didn't bother me going over to the beach - it is a walk of about 10 - 15 mins (I don't rush on holiday!) but I didn't mind it, and you can always hop on the little shuttle bus - the driver will stop when he sees you walking. Initially I was determined to stay in the old part to be close to the sea, but in the end I was glad to have gone over to the new side!

The pools are fabulous on the new side - absolutely enormous, and all the same depth: about waist height on me. There are two water sildes there too. The main pool at the older side seemed so much busier and more cramped around the pool with sunbeds, and I liked the space around the pool at the new side (better sunbeds too). There was loads of room for us to float about on lilos - that wouldn't be possible on the old side, and I do enjoy that!

If the rooms are virtually the same price I personally would choose the new side.

:banghead: Just had the most exasperating half an hour trying to book it up - wouldn't let me do it online.

Think it is all ok now, had to do it by phone. Even that was hard work - I bet Lyn and Pat could have sorted me out a lot quicker :rofl

Have gone for 1 Triple deluxe and 1 King Hilton guest room. I realise one may be the new part and one the other side but it doesn't really matter. Will make sure they know we are Hilton Honours members when we check in!

Thank you both for all your help :)

We are going for Xmas Pat, really looking forward to it now. They sent 2 confirmation emails straight away Lyn, one for each room. I suppose I just have to take a copy of the emails with me.

All confirmed then . Sharks bay should have your booking Lesley :)

Sounds fine Lesley - lovely to be away at Christmas. If there is anything else you need to know, give us a shout. I hope to get back next year -it was too expensive for November this year so we are going to a different hotel 2 doors down.

I am looking to book a week over NewYear for the family, including a 20 and 16 yr old.
I am prepared to pay for the right hotel but am tempted by the Hilton Sharks Bay.
Other hotels I am considering are Tropicana Grand Azure or Baron Result.
Both are dearer( the Baron much dearer) and I wonder if the Baron may be a little stuffy for the boys.
All we want is something happening to keep the boys amused, decent food and maybe the option to leave the complex for alternative eating etc.

Any advise much appreciated

I can't comment on the other two but we have stayed twice at the HSB and our teens (3 boys) had a great time there .

It seemed popular with English families with older teens and they made lots of friends there ,some of whom they are still in contact with 2/3 years later .

You would need to go down into naama bay if you want life outside of the hotel. The hotel has it's own minibus for a small charge or taxi's are cheap and plentiful.

Of the other two I would say the grand azure would be more family orientated than the Baron.

Having stayed at both the HSB wins without a doubt
Food is better, slightly nearer Naama bay and staff friendlier

Just done my review for Christmas week at HSB :tup

Enjoyed that Lesley .Interesting to read about soho sqaure , I'd heard about it before but had assumed it was further away for some reason .
Good to know we now have somewhere to stroll too and the boys might like it . Was there any atmosphere there or was it dead .

It was only a 5 minute stroll away, did get chased by the resident camel though :rofl There was a stage where there looked like there was entertainment put on and shisha pipes in the middle of the square. We all had a good time at the bowling but it was a lot quieter and not as much atmosphere as Naama bay.

At least they are recognising that we like a stroll outside of the hotel . will definately give it a go .

Good to read your review Lesley! Lyn - Soho Square is out of the hotel and to the left -a couple of minutes walk. There is a "British" pub, lots of restaurants and shops and an ice bar -think it was 20 euros to get in there including one drink and you could only stay for 20 mins so we didn't give it a try! Quite glitzy looking generally with fountains etc, and it's nice to have a stroll about in the evening.
