Like for Like I dont really find much difference price wise between any of the london airports Helen but Gatwick usually has the most on offer . EJ fly from Luton & gatwick . TC stansted & Gatwick
I'm happy to go from any including Luton and I'd go with whoever was the cheapest at the time .
Lyn, thanks for the info I will email the hotel and see if who has the best rates
Bluemoon . They will probably come back with a higher rate but dont be defeated .You will need the best bed booker price in front of you and a link to it that you can send in your email . The price they give you direct will be in USDollars
Anyone just back who can give an update on what is / isn't open?
Is this the case, can anyone help please.
The two sides are very different I feel and are like seperate hotels . Obviously newer over there and the pool is huge but it lacks the charm and character of the old side.
For us we like to feel close to the sea and jetty and the new side is a fair walk unless you are happy to hop on/off the little bus. We started going there before the new side was built (although what is known as the old side is not that old itself) so for us the hilton is the old side if that makes sense.

I think it's worth noting that the "Old" side isn't actually that old! A lot of the rooms have now been refurbished. These rooms are perfectly acceptible. Have stayed there twice. I think one of the main differences is that you only get a shower on the original side, and a shower / bath on the extended bit.
I was just thinking the same Mobor and just went back and edited. Even before renovation I've always felt the rooms very nice . If you get one of the ones that possibly feels a bit darker they are very accomodating at the hilton and they will give you another . Last year the golf buggy guy toured us around with 4 sets of keys to choose a room .
I've just got back if anyone has any questions?
Did you enjoy mobor
Such things as how busy it is, whats opened and whats closed, is the food OK ish, are there currently any tummy bugs about, are all the pools open is the shuttle to NB up and running, hows the building works are they a prob to guests? Anything that you think might be of interest to someone going in the next couple of months. I'm happy for a warts and all update, would rathere know what I am going to
Cheers. Doe
There was some renovation work going on on one of the accommodation blocks around the pool, a small amount of banging during the day, but nothing too aggravating. A couple of the small pools were closed.
Chill Out bar only open twice a week. Mahfouz restaurant definitely open, despite being told about a week before we travelled that it was closed.
Seemed pretty busy, but not packed.
Food was OK. We didn't get ill, but I know some people did. I will advise anyone DRINK LOTS OF WATER - I read on here a few years ago that most stomach upsets are caused by dehydration. A few people seemed to hit the beer at 9am, so I'm sure that didn't do them any favours!
The shuttle bus is still running, and seemed pretty popular.
The wi-fi in reception is a bit hit and miss, but I heard someone ask them to disconnect and reconnect (the box is high on the wall in the internet room). This seemed to do the trick, and when it went down again, I asked them to do the same thing.
One day old newspapers are available from the seller who walks around the hotel, but be prepared, a copy of the Sun is £40 Egyptian.
I can't think of anything else, but if you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask.
Any chance of adding a review http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/reviews/egypt/sinai-penninsula-and-red-sea/sharm-el-sheikh/hilton-sharks-bay-resort/
Thanks
Ive been to Sharm 3 times so i kind of know what to expect, but not been to the HSB, If the food looks a bit dodgy we will eat out at night, it's only 2 or us and for 7 nights.
The food didn't look dodgy. There was always pasta, meat dishes, potatoes etc. The fresh bread was lovely. Sometimes the meals weren't to my taste, but that is down to preferences rather than the quality of the food. It certainly wasn't like any of those buffets they show you on the holiday complaint programmes!!
Kiltman - I've just written a review.
Thanks Mobor One I have just approved it
Looking for something for next Easter, but might hang on in case I want to rebook this one. Prices seem high for next year at the moment. Wondering if the operators have cancelled flights & rooms, some places semm to have gone of the radar completely like El Gouna.
Cant be long now before you go
Reading your review mobor I would agree that the only fault we find with the food is that it tends to be a bit bland but I think thats fairly common place in Egypt.
I am booked with Cosmos & will I guess be on a Monarch Plane, so not expecting much comfort, but it's only a means to an end.
I think (hope) things are picking up a bit over there as the memories of January seem to be fading, so lets hope there will be an upturn for the Egyptians and things will be back to normal for 2012. Haven't noticed many stories of flight consolidations lately.
The places that seem to have disappeared are El Gouna and I cant find much for Marsa Alam, I guess the market for Sharm was more robust & been able to weather the storm a bit - I keep thinking it's time I tried a different resort.
Not worried about bland food really so long as it's OK should probably go on TA & read reviews but cant be bothered. It just makes me worry & once booked there's not much point.
