Under Important Matters suggest you include :
Notify credit card provider(s) that you'll be in whatever country you're visiting. This will prevent them from regarding use of the card abroad as suspicious and blocking the card(s).

If we take everything on the list we had better pay the excess baggage charge before we arrive at the airport!.
The list is good as it reminds you of all those things that might be easily forgotten.
The more we add to it, it might just remember another member to pack the item.
I just went through the list to check what I have packed so far for my holiday and forgot to pack the sunglasses. Prove that the list works

And don't forget, it's highly unlikely we'll all need every
item from the list
I've probably told this story before but when I went to Fuerteventura in about 2002 I think it was, I forgot my shorts, every single pair! I arrived home a week later to find them all neatly piled and folded on my bed!

Oil of Cloves.
I always include this in case of toothache. The one year I forgot it my husband had problems with an abcess and I couldn't translate what I wanted into French before we found a dentist. So it's just a reassurance for me to know it's there.
This really works: Soak a cotton wool ball and hold against inflamed area: has a really numbing effect.

Sorry - bit behind. Just a note on decongestant tablets... anyone taking blood pressure medication should check with their doctor before taking them.
Good point Prawn.
Mark maybe a reminder on the check-list that members should always consult their GP/pharmacist before taking new medication??

In the Important Matters list:
Set the video/Sky+/V+ box (two weeks of Big Brother to catch up on...)
Set the lamp timers
Turn off heating (unless it's Winter, when you may wish to have the heating come on very low just for an hour a day to stop pipes freezing...)
Put rubbish in outside bin (to avoid a nasty niff in the kitchen when you come home two weeks later...)
Water the plants
Charge all batteries (camera, camcorder, mobile phone) so they're all ready to use on arrival
Unplug all unecessary electricals
Switch off the ringer on the phone (so anyone passing doesn't hear the phone ringing and ringing with nobody answering)
These are things I have on my own pre-holiday "to-do" list

We always take a rubber bath mat ever since my wife slipped in the bath in Majorca. You can't buy them there. We usually leave them behind as they are only a couple of pounds from Argos and come neatly rolled up and sealed.
