I am going to NZ/OZ for a 14 night cruise but to split the long flight to Auckland I am doing a 2 night stopover in Singapore. I have booked the Singapore Airlines stopover package. This is hotel transfers Hotel discount on food pass for the SIA hop on off bus and also free admission to a lot of the attractions. I have booked the Ritz Carlton which is in their highest group of hotel E and I am paying £240 for the 2 nights. This is for single occupancy but they had hotels from around £50 per night.
I have been in Singapore only once before and it was just for 2 nights and 14+ years ago.
I have also booked 2 nights in Auckand and have booked the Crowne Plaza and paying just £148 for the 2 nights.
Really excited about the whole trip 14 nights cruise and then when this ends I am flying from Sydney on the 7th Dec and staying in Perth until the 12th January. A really long holiday but why not!

Off to Bali again in May/June 09 and just booked our hotel Kumala Pantai in Legian 475,000 Roops including breaky and all taxes. We have decided to stay in the Legian area for the whole 2 weeks as it meets all our needs. Beach, beach bars, shops and heaps of good restaurants within walking distance. Kumula Pantai is cheap enough to use as a base and head off elsewhere for a couple of days... I'm thinking Tegal Sari if we can get in as it's getting very very popular.
Now just have to wait for flights to become available.

Edit Just to add we have managed to get our room of choice at the Tegal Sari for 2 nights,(Wooden super deluxe as recommended by friends who are regular visitors there). They were quick and efficient to deal with. 500,000 per night, per room plus breaky and 10% tax.

If anyone is interested, google Tegal Sari there is a wonderful clip on you tube put on by a young couple.

So far, so good :cheers

Both Bali hotels booked and confirmed direct with hotels. The nice thing about the Kumala Pantai and Tegal Sari you can book the rooms of your choice.

Bali appears to enjoying a resurgence since the terrible days in October 2002 and 2005... it's taken a while and more and more people are finding it difficult to get hotels and rooms of their choice as they are chocka block, particularly the bigger hotels in Legian like Mandira and Padma.

I've been watching Jetstar's airfares online...they have four categories. We get the 2nd called Jetsaver with 20kg baggage. You can purchase either one way or return at a time. At this stage only May is up for sale for MEL-DPS and already Jetsaver flights via Sydney the day before and the day after are sold out and a good indication that we have to buy asap.

So this has been a very long winded post to say we have booked going :tup and seats chosen, even got the same seats as last time... just hope the moron who kicked my seat ALL the way isn't behind me again.

Now to keep an eye open for return airfares... somehow! it doesn't seem as important.

I'm glad that things are looking up again for Bali. Goodness knows how all the shops have managed to keep going- I dont know another place with quite so many shops- everywhere.
