hi moira...you were lucky then...atleast they sent you somewhere you know and liked...I went lago taurito in july ...was late booking as forgot it was hubbies 50th...was too excited and one track minded about sons wedding in rhodes in the august...so was booked in a rush ...my niece and family had been lago taurito earlier in the year and said it was a good AI...which I needed as on tight buget cause of the wedding...so I booked it....it turned out to an ideal choice for all of the family...only went for a week but have booked again for 2 weeks next year

I decided to go back next year as was youngest sons choice...the whole family enjoyed it...it really was a good AI...I would have been well upset in your possision...if I decide on something ...then thats what I want .... some of the reasons I like taurito are probably why others wouldnt....its all contained in an area in the middle of the hotels....lago gives free entry to waterpark ....the staff are all very good and patient...the only people there are from the hotels ...no real passers through.....I have son with aspergers (clever autistic ) and this is a safe relaxed place for him to be....if they moved me to somewhere else he couldnt have the kind of freedom he has in taurito...and so we wouldnt enjoy our hols as much either.

Some people are lucky when this happens and can land up with a better holiday than they originally booked...but some land up unhappy but with no other choice than to accept whats offered or loose their holiday....glad your one of the lucky ones....have a great time.

ps...try taurito another time...as yes it is good for Mogan...and yes it really is worth a visit especially on a friday as huge market on

Well did have a holiday booked for Benidorm this year but the lovely Thomsons sent us a letter telling us the hotel couldn't accomodate us in August and they had moved us elsewhere (after having booked with them since last July!!). I wasn't happy with the hotel they suggested so decided to trawl the net for a holiday in Gran Canaria instead. It's a place I had always wanted to visit after a friend from work has visited a few times but previous prices and daft flights put me off.....until now!

So with a stroke of luck and a fanatastic deal with Thomas Cook two adults and two children are now off to Altamadores hotel in Puerto Rico for 2 weeks in August, all inclusive. The reviews I've read have been fanatastic so I'm chuffed to bits I'm finally getting to go to the one place I have raved about for the last two years! We have night flights to and from Birmingham but with booking so late we had little choice but to snap the holiday up as it was such a good price compared to others on the net.

The only thing that has me worried is the thought of the dreaded cockroaches!!

Hi all..we're off to Gran Canaria today, staying at the Calina Mar for 12 nights. We only booked it yesterday through Thomas Cook staying half-board. Ive never booked a last minute holiday before so im hoping i dont regret it! I'll post a report on my return.

Second reply on this thread, my post is near the top from last year!

We went with the the 3 kids last year SC to the Altamar and it was brilliant, the kids loved it.

We were supposed to be staying home this year to pay for things to get done in the house, but I had a wee share windfall at work so booked a weeks AI at Terrazamar Sunsuites for just me and the Mrs on Monday for 12/7 to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary.

I haven't told her yet, so keep it under your hat.....
